freydis Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 What are some of your favorite fictional heros who may be of a less conventional stripe? Maybe the vigilantes who roamed the night of one author's world, the tortured souls who brought order to their strange worlds in ways that others might not have seen as quite so nice?

saechalyn Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I know I lose originality points but: Batman
Scales Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Conan the Barbarian As for antagonists, Lestat (Interview with a Vampire), Vicious (Cowboy Bebop), Legato Bluesummers (Trigun), Lord Shishio (Kenshin Series), Vincent Volaju (Cowboy Bebop: The Movie). Yeah.. I like anime villains. Oh and last but not least, Pyramid Head, from Silent Hill.
Scary Guy Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I know I lose originality points but: Batman I'm surprised it took THAT long for someone to say it. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I think tortured hero. Although all heroes are tortured technically. Doctor Who from the new series (believe me, they've made him tortured, never lonely, but always alone). The Punisher, Hellboy, Wolverine, and Spawn are all good ones, but i only know of them from the movies. Darkman, Robocop, The Terminator, Predator Vampire Hunter D, Spike (from Cowboy Bebop), Roger Smith (Big O) That's a ll I can think of right now.

Toshiro Mifune's character in almost ANYTHING. Yojimbo, Seven Samurai, Kabuto, Rashomon, Miyamoto Musashi, you name it. Roland of Gilead, from Stephen King's Dark Tower series, or, if you want to get a little more pure, Childe Roland in Browning's Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came.
