I know I lose originality points but: Batman

If you lose points...then I do too. Batman is awesome!

You think he would look into making purchases from a different company. Then again, maybe their the only ones will deliver to that part of the desert.

Also, my favorite Looney Tunes ever is the one where Wile E Coyote is falling from some very tall building, and he talks and reminisces about his life.

I read a hilarious spoof many years ago... I think in National Lampoon... where Wile E. Coyote was suing Acme. Funny stuff.

Most of my favorites have already been named but oh well...

Vash the Stampede, Trigun (the anime, hated the dismal manga)

Legato Bluesummer, Trigun

Alucard, Hellsing

The Underground Man, Dostoevsky, Notes from Underground (love his opening rant)

Jin, Samurai Champloo

Sha Gojyo, Saiyuki

Kougaiji, Saiyuki

Ogami Itto, Lone Wolf & Cub (the manga, not the film)

Cheradinine Zakalwe, Use of Weapons, Iain M. Banks (think I got the name right, the book is down the basement & no way am I going down there now)

Sharrow, Against a Dark Background, Iain M. Banks

The Corinthian, The Sandman

And... Betty Coltrane from Nick Cave's The Ballad of Robert Moore & Betty Coltrane

Any of the "heroes" in the Filth or Invisibles comic series by Grant Morrison.

Um, and like others Batman came to mind first.

Unfortunately a few of these are repeats....

The Crow - from the James O'Barr original series

Ogami Itto - from Lone Wolf and Cub

Sgt. Ellias from Platoon

Rorschark from Allan Moore's Watchmen

Holden Caulfied = Catcher in the Rye

Richard McKnight is an interesting "tortured hero," especially as he finds himself in "over his head" almost from the get-go of Terra 2920, one of the two stories showing up in Pulp Dreams #1.
