My name is Marblez and I am a DGN Addict.

The problem has reached such magnitude that I don't even use my real name anymore. I introduce myself on the street and in the clubs as "Marblez from DetroitGothic.net".

I think I need a sponsor.

What exactly do sponsors do? They donate money for internet access, right?

We here at the DGNA foundation take a holistic aproach to encouraging more DGN Addiction, and so we look at total posts but also at average posts per day multiplied by total post count and length of membership to decide on who qualifies for DGNAF assistance.

Average posts per day = D

Total Posts = T

Length of DGN Membership(days) = L

DGNA Score = S

DGNA Score is calculated thusly:

D * T * L = S

Example:

(7.8 posts per day X 900 posts) X 100 days on board = 702,000

When your DGNA score = 5,000,000+ you then may qualify for DGNA assistance to help continue your good work to further your increased DGN addiction.

Calculate number of days on DGN since your join date with this handy calculator:

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

Also theres a secret Pimp Factor™© that may be added to the calculation but its formula is kept secret for now.

Hi.

My name is Brenda, and I'm a DGNaholic. It's been an hour or so since my last post. I get the shakes when I don't post somewhere, somehow on this board. I'm so addicted that I'm planning a trip to Detroit sometime in the near future just so I can meet the people I post with.

Please....help.

Edited because my withdrawal is so bad, I couldn't spell "shakes".

Yeah HW , if we carried over some peoples join date and post count from the old board it would be a lot easier to point out the addicts.

(something i've actually thought about doing, upon user request (and once i figure out how to change users join dates on IPB) as it looks better for potential new people to see a board thats been around for years with lots of older-join dates and such i think)

i think my ez account is coming onto 5 years now

found you lot must be 4 years

and i had little else to do

at the end of the day having seen some kids on forums use post counts as badge of knowlage berate the people who are right cos thier new and low post count (not gonna happen here but seen it often enough for my opinion to form). i am not fussed

io know it took the neares DGn member 3 months in my absence to get close to it

oh how i miss going round derailing threads and going off on tangents....

Anyone using their post count other than as a post count will be shot on sight. That "im cool lookit my postcount" garbabe is one of the things i started DGN to get away from.

It does have an effect of making a board seem "solidified" and not a fly-by-night operation (moreso the join date lengths than the post counts)

Tomcat your DGNA (detroit gothic . net addiction) score is calcualted out as:

Post Average: 19.4

Total Posts: 825

Days on Board: 42

Secret Pimp Factor: X

DGNA total: 872,210

Nothing to worry about, plenty more room yet till you hit addicted level. (5,000,000+) :laughing

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I know I would welcome this.

I left the old DGN with something like just under 6,000 posts with a joined date of April 2002, and that wasn't even my FIRST account, which reflects my actual joined date of September or October of 2001.

Hated losing all that, though my post count has gone down since I got back to "work" and snapped out of the clinical depression I was in for the first 2 years after moving here to NC. That had me in front of the computer all day, sometimes refreshing over and over and over hoping someone would post SOMETHING I could read and respond to.

It was nice to have DGN "there for me" during that, but man, those days were dark & scary.

Now, I'm just enjoying it when I have free time. Which isn't right now... damn... back to work... :wink :

nerdcore you do have allot of posts. anyone over about 100 posts has "a lot of posts" at least in terms of the "new dgn" numbers. Anyone with over 50 posts is in the top 50 total posters.
