If You Saw Me Taking Poison, Would You Try To Stop Me?

Vicodin + alcohol is deadly and a lot don't really know that. It's not the stuff in it that makes you high that is the problem - it's the Tylenol (acetaminophen) content. You really need to either take the Vicodin or take the alcohol, but not both together. It's really not even a good idea to use Tylenol for a hangover headache, especially if you wash it down with more alcohol. That stuff will cook your liver fast.

If you're gonna do it, at least be smart about it and don't mix the Vicodin with anything else like cold meds or Excedrin or anything that might have Tylenol or alcohol in them. Just because it's over the counter stuff doesn't mean it's safe to mix with other things.

OK, I'm done mommying everyone. No more funerals or liver transplants for awhile please.

Also they should ban acetaminophen since studies have shown that even at the correct dosage,(no alcohol) it still can damage the liver,I always take Aleve or Motrin if I have a headache,I will never trust Tylenol.

yes but paracetamol fucks the liver also

should we ban that?

all meds have drawbacks and generally drinking on meds is a bad idea.

i'll stop here as i do like a bit of absinthe now and than and that fuck over pretty much everything.

Onyx, Take care of yourself and the rest of you. i dont do overseas funerals

There are damn few medicines, prescription or over-the-counter, that you can take with alcohol. I had to do a project for my medications class on 40 medications of all types(pain killers, respiratory drugs, digestive drugs, anti-depressants, hormones, etc.) and their contraindications. Of the 40 meds, only maybe 2 did not list alcohol as the #1 thing to avoid if you are taking it.

Although if you're not healthy, I guess you shouldn't be drinking in the first place, medications or no.

I avoid taking anything if i can help it..... even comming out of surgery taking the vic's home I took the first day and nothing after that..... id much rather deal with the pain and sleep it off....... the only time i take anything really is if im in the hospital..... i fear the drugs.... and its all a joke to me... Dr.s and such get kick backs for the stuff I'v had patients on 30+ med 2 to 3 times a day...... its sad really

I have a strict policy against trying to talk people out of doing stuff if they know what they're doing. If i saw someone take vicodin and then decide to drink i would make sure they were aware of why that was a bad idea but beyond that Im not really the nurturing type.

"Hey do you know that the alcohol can kill you cuz of the acetaminophen in the vicodin?"

"Yes, im well aware"

"okay, cheers"

If I saw you taking poison or trying to kill yourself I would do whatever it takes to help. Been there done that tried to commit suicide recently thank god my older son helped me . I also helped a friend one time when he attempted suicide and saved his life.

My point was though - so many people mix alcohol and other drugs. Even over the counter stuff is sometimes the same as taking poison. They may be committing suicide without meaning to. (but a lot are so selfish they just don't care. They just continue to commit slow suicide until their liver gives out and they leave behind a lot of grieving family and friends).

Oh,oh, it just hit a personal note for me though. You are right about people taking any kind of drugs prescribed, over-the-counter,or illegal drugs and mixing them with alcohol and not caring if they die or not and being stubborn altogether.

that happens with just alcohol... yanno, alcohol *is* a toxin to the body. if they're drinking (a lot) on a regular basis, they probably don't give much of a fuck about themselves, their health, or their loved ones anyway...
