Shujin Ghost Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Just curious if someone can make some suggestions on where a guy can find some decent looking boots ? Best pair of boots I purchased were used canadian combat boots and those things lasted me for 3 yrs of constant use. . . unfortunately they had to be retired the soles wore down and the screws were starting to come out. Thanks,
Sybil Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Hi!!! If you dont mind ordering online, there is a place in the UK that I order from. HIGH quality. They take a few weeks to come because they are custom, its called Pennangalan Dreams... pennangalan.com. They are around $200.00 american dollars (after shipping is included, which is pretty special for custom footwear.) )
Fierce Critter Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 If you're talking Detroit area, your choices pretty much consist of: Hot Topic - companies like TUK and Anarchic actually make knock-offs of their expensive lines to sell through HT. The quality is questionable. But my husband and I both have boots purchased from there, and they've been fine for us. Noir Leather, Royal Oak - they carry some Demonia, some Docs, some other brands. IMHO, I think they're overpriced. You can get the same boots online for less. Showtime, Detroit - they carry a lot of lines, but they carry the real McCoy. EXPENSIVE. They have a decent selection of creepers. That's pretty much it. I highly recommend going online. Ebay in particular - you can get absolutely fantastic deals on new or nearly new, good brands.
Draco1958 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 If you are looking for basic combat style boots, there is harry's Army Surplus in Dearborn. I bought a nice pair of Bates for around $70. Zipper on the side which is nice. And what surprised me was that they were comfortable to wear from day one. Actually didn't have to break them in.
Fierce Critter Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Oh, yeah - good suggestion, Draco. By the way, I generally see a lot of nicely broken-in combat boots at salvation army & other thrift stores.

DJDeadbeat Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Is there any place in the Detroit area that sells POINTED TOE boots? Like winklepickers or beatle boots?
Fierce Critter Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Is there any place in the Detroit area that sells POINTED TOE boots? Like winklepickers or beatle boots? You might check out Showtime, but I've only been there once and specifically was looking for women's boots and men's creepers, so if they had any, it didn't register. I know they didn't have any at Noir or Hot Topic. Pennengalen as mentioned above has the best selection of that type of boot, they actually list them as winklepickers. IMNSHO, probably what I would consider the more classic punk look than stompy platform boots. I LOVE guys in those boots & shoes.
Nienna Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I've used Pennangalon too! FAST shipping and easy to deal with.
Vivian Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 uhm.. well here is a link to check out, its like a catalog of places to get cool shiznit. http://www.batgearbeyond.com Its a list of online stores.
Nivek Novisad Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Yeah Harry's Army surplus is one of the best places for combat boots... I bought a pair of Corcoran paratrooper boots 3 years ago for 120. I have worn them daily and they still have tread left. I have never owned a better, more comfortable boot. My New Rocks only lasted 10 months before self-destructing. I can't speak out against them enough. Try Amazon.. i have bought several pairs of the real leather, buckle, steel toe demonias through different stores. Like the above boots but slightly different...
Draco1958 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Is there any place in the Detroit area that sells POINTED TOE boots? Like winklepickers or beatle boots? There's a shop at Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor that sells pointed toe boots. While most of them would be considered cowboy boots, there were some smooth leather ones there also. Worth checking them out.

Necromanta Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Noir Leather might have them, i know they've had them before. You're a Marquis de Sade fan? Hmm. Have you read Juliette? Oh anyway.. back on to the topic at hand; Unisexshoestore. Type that in on ebay on the stores section. Get some cheap, new boots. Nice ones at that.
