At Christmas time, when my grandparents were still alive, because there were so many children and Grandma & Grandpa were just dirt poor farmers, their gift to us children was a single $2 bill in a little money card. We children thought this was the most special thing because we never saw them any other time. We didn't realise it was just a way for them to get out of Christmas "cheaply"; we thought it was teh bomb, at the time.
