Fierce Critter Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 This has turned from a tax discussion to a smokers vs. non-smokers debate. And with rare exception, the smokers are always going to be for things that make smoking easy/acceptable/permissible/accessible, and the non-smokers are going to not care if smokers have some sort of difficulty/problem either accessing their cigarettes or lighting them up. For the record, I'm actually not real for this kind of tax. I do see it as an "easy way out" for politicians who aren't willing to revamp a flawed system that depends much too much on robbing Peter to pay Paul, and on one hand greasing the other for favors/votes. But that's not a smoking/non-smoking issue, nor is it a democrat/republican issue, nor is it a liberal/conservative issue. I don't have an answer to any of this. But I don't like how this sort of thing ends up pitting people against each other like this. It gets sooo ugly.
Fierce Critter Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 By the way, shouldn't this be moved to the politics forum?

But I'm gonna make a thread that I feel describes the U.S. political problem. Oh the only reason some of my post ended up there is because of the Michigan tax issue.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 thats odd... I could ahve sworn that where I created it.

Hellion Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I like the way Apples & Oranges are compared(sarcastic)for example people think car exhaust, welding fumes, asbestos, house dust, industrial dust, and even radon is not as bad as cigarette smoke, and also ozone, bad to breath. Nothing is hardly ever mentioned about these toxins. I myself have respect for non smokers as long as they have respect for my smoking habit,I always keep cigarette smoke away from non smokers,at a bar or restaurant,I always wondered why non smokers sit in the smoking section, that one always amazed me. But how about obesity, still quite an expensive toll on the heath care system in this country. I always respect my friends and relatives that do not smoke, and will not smoke near them. some day I will quit the filthy habit considering I roll my own, which cost alot less than pre-made cigarettes. btw I am smoking a cigarette as I am typing this post out. and yes junk food is not a necessity, just like cigarettes,it just happens to be alot cheaper to buy than food that is good for you.nough said.

I agree with you, somewhat. I am a non smoker. I do sit in smoking sections if that's first available, but at that point I won't bitch about the smoke. I go to smoky bars, but I won't bitch that they are smoky, I knew it befor I went. But I have no tolerance for those who light up where it is a designated NON smoking area. I don't bitch when I'm in your world, you have no right to bitch in mine. (BTW I don't mean "you" as in personally, "you" ment the bitching smokers!).
Homicidalheathen Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Eh just go buy some off the reservation in bulk, then go sell them to your friends and make a profit. (I actually know someone who does this)
