How To Fix Michian?

Recommended Posts

Legalize prostitution my friends that's how.

Let's put up a few red light districts or a few dozen mustang ranches and tax the hell outta it. No one gets hurt and lots of John's are happy. We could even put these places out in the middle of nowhere so no communities are offended.

Problem solved - next please.

Of course I realize most people in Michigan are against the idea but hey - it beats the hell out of being taxed to death on everything else - RIGHT!?

It could, but then there is a distinct risk of making the pregnancy rate and std infection rate grow dramatically. Not to mention the message that people, especially kids would get from it.

Actually, if it were legalized the hookers could have access to proper medical care, testing, and birth control. Since it's illegal, many girls are hurt, killed, infected with std's, get knocked up, etc. Personally I think it should be legal, it is in places in Nevada and they've never had a problem with it. The men who frequent hoes are usually the type where they're going to do it no matter what, whether it's legal or not, so why not be safe, cautious, and official about it and oh yeah - tax the FUCK outta them. Well not unfairly, but I don't know if you realized here in Michigan the casinos in Detroit pull in hundreds of thousands a day for the city (I can't remember the exact number, I think around $400,000) and they pull in about a million or two for the state from being taxed by the both. Personally, I've noticed sex is a bit more addicting than gambling (well I guess it depends on who you're talking to) so this whole legal bordello scheme sounds pretty damn lucrative if you ask me.

Der Nister, my good sir, I do believe you are on to something!

YAY FOR HOOKERS! :animier:

It's a nasty job, but some nasty tramp has to do it.

Impeach the bitch and oust the majority in the House.

I'm with you. If gambling can be legalized here, so should prostitution. Could generate quite a bit in tax revenue.

first thing you need to do is return to G to Michian and make it Michigan again so I know where I am...

We could judge everyone in the state and then listen to VNV Nation.

Agreed. I see no reason why it should be illegal.

I'm pretty much indifferent to prostitution being legalized or not.

But.. What about weed? It's (IMO) a weak drug, compared to other more dangerous hard stuff. It should be buy-able and taxed like liquor and tobacco.

Another thing, I think a lot of franchises are fucking evil; take Wal-Mart and McDonalds for example. Wal-Mart's treat their employees like shit, get government grants to build huge stores all around the US while the educational systems suffer financially, treat the factory workers in China like COMPLETE SHIT, and just overall the CEO's are greedy assholes. Many McDonald's have had reports from former workers of mistreatment from managers, and buying drugs for minors. Big franchises like Wal-Mart and McDonalds run out the type of less stressful, local, friendly and sometimes phrased "mom and pop" type businesses that just about anyone would rather work at.

As far as getting work, I find all these huge franchises that take over communities really frustrating. They apply more stress to every position and worker than local businesses ever would have, and are usually set up to be unfair for the people struggling with funding housing and living for themselves and/or their families.

This economy sucks. I'm about to start an anti-church and ordain myself as an anti-preacher. Even if I don't make any money maybe I can turn a local church into a business, or have a condom shop put in the Vatican.

How would this change by legalizing it? Seems there would be way less pregnancies and STDs.

I believe in the places where it is legal they have to get regular physicals and condom use is much more prevalent in the legal brothels.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about it if they did. It seems to be there would be more advantages than disadvantages if they could get it off the streets and regulate it.

very true. Its sad though, that there isn't any other viable options to help turn your economy around.

there are many options.

Michigan needs real Leadership.

Someone needs to take the wheel and stop this reckless slide into hell.

It's not too late.

Michigan is heavily vested in a failing industry getting sucked dry by it's own employees.

Michigan needs to encourage smaller "support" factory's to diversifier their jobs. If you can make plastic car parts for cars that your own employees can not afford to purchase, you can divert 1/4 of your production to plastic forks, knives and dollar store doll heads that they can afford. Michigan's government should encourage this with either tax breaks or grants to facilitate the change over.

There are idle factory's all over the state rotting into the ground. Use them. Michigan's government should beg and or reward company's that move jobs into the factory's.

Get rid of all the red tape and damning tax's that new start up "mom and pop" business are getting killed by. Michigan's laws for starting a new company are daunting at their best.

We don;t need advertising campaigns and a "remodeling" of the larger citys. We don't need more tax's and a higher cost of living.

We need REAL leadership. Now.

I want to come home.

Need I remind all of you that the weak dollar is one of the best things that can happen to Michigan? IMPORTS are costing more than DOMESTIC GOODS. For now, and only in a few specific markets.

However, the Euro isn't going away, China's Yuan is most certainly not slinking off into that good night, and even the Rupee is gaining some ground. Look, China and India comprise a third of humanity, and Europe has about 500 million souls as well.

That's 2.9 BILLION people.

For the last thirty years, it simply made sense to build factories overseas, (or across the border), and buy back what was made there. The tide has turned.

Michigan has 10 million people. America has 300 million people. The people of Europe, China, and India only need to be as economically potent as one tenth of an American on a per capita basis to surpass us in buying power.

Europe is an economic powerhouse, and tycoons are being made every day in China and India. It's starting to make more sense to start up the factories and sell to the world than it does to close down the factories and buy from the world.

It will probably take as long as a decade, perhaps more, but Michigan will rebound. Simple demographic extrapolation dictates this.

All we need to do... is hang on just a little while longer.
