Catwoman

Fierce Critter

Just finished watching this.

I have to say, I don't think it was the absolute piece of trash most critics made it out to be. It was DEFINITELY boring. And definitely vapid. But I've seen much worse.

But if you're a fan of Batman & the original concept of catwoman a-la Selina Kyle, you'll probably hate it character-wise.

I don't come from that kind of origin-loyalty. But I do love cats (duh), and I love the Catwoman character. So I can see where some people would hate this movie.

The character is basically pretty uninteresting. Think a severely, SEVERELY watered-down version of Michelle Pfeiffer's mousy-to-feral characterization.

They basically did a bad job with the same concept.

As for story, well, it's o.k., not very complex and hard to base a full movie around.

As for cats in general, well, I HAD to see this based on cats being such a part of my life. :cat: Well, let's just say that cat lovers really don't need this in their lives.

The most interesting thing about the DVD is the feature on all the catwomans of the past. Hosted by Eartha Kitt, who I previously didn't care for, coming from a loyalty to Julie Newmar, but who I really appreciate now. I'd say if you're a Batman/Catwoman fan, this is the only thing worth renting the DVD for.

There are DVD-Rom extras I've yet to look at, which I'll be doing shortly.

In short, save your $$, unless you REALLY like ultra-light entertainment.

I thought it was a fun movie and I didn't think she deserved a razzie for it.

In fact, I watched it again a week later and enjoyed it just as much the second time.
