Ok some of you claim to have this.....just wondered if there are mental trix to over come this as he prefers not to go the drug route.

This guy I know has it and its getting worse.

This is the routine. I go over to his house, we party......I get tired and decide to spend the night.

I want to sleep.......

He has to check the doors to make sure they are locked x number of times....same goes with the windows.

There are like 15 locks to be checked total.....so this takes like a frickin half hour!!!

:nut

I am like dude, if anyone breaks in.....I am on the couch, relax......I got ya covered.......

Nope. If he is embarressed and goes to bed without x amount of checks he can't sleep and has to start all over again.......ugh.

Dunno how he makes it to work on time I swear.....

So now I have become part of the obsession!!!! He has to check on me to make sure I am asleep or some strange shit so I pretend to be asleep......which is impossible with all the running around he is doing......and he has to keep coming back to check on me x amount of times........until he is done so he can sleep.

He says he almost had it under control once........I am thinking maybe a good hypnotherapist could help?

Anyone ever use one with success? He is driving himself and everyone else nuts. Heaven forbid someone comes in at night late......he has to get up and start checking again so everyone tries to live by HIS bedtime.

If he is choosing to not go the drug route which sometimes is what people need to overcome this...a good therapist might possibly do the trick. Someone he can talk to about what is going on and see if possibly there is a deeper routed problem

Hope that he figures something out because he is going to end up driving himself and his family and friends crazy.

This sounds a lot more like paranoia than OCD. I used to be OCD pretty bad when I was younger, but most of my obsessions revolved around order and cleanliness....

Actually that does sound more feasible. It sounds much more like anxiety than OCD, possibly even caused by life events.

For instance, my best friend's stepdad used to live in Detroit by himself before he got with Lisa's mom when she was still a little itty bitty enchilada. When he moved in with her mom into the townhouses that I still live in, for about the first seven years of staying there ANY little noise in the middle of the night would send him sitting straight up in bed wide awake in a panic, because he had been so used to hearing gunshots and having break-ins. It could be something along those lines.
