What Makes A Goth?

Hey! I was wondering how each of you all became who you are now as a goth. Feel free to discuss if you want. I guess I started first on a goth site . I became interested in goth for a very long time there since I was very young as you can say pretty drawn to it. Besides my belief in pagan, I developed great interest in music, the goth clothings, and the goth way of life. I accepted the darkness as I did for the light just as life and death. I accepted the lack of beauty that most people failed to see in life. So if any of you who would like to share on how you became will be up to you.

I think DGN should be re-named detroitgothic-ish.net since many of the regulars claim not to be truly goth.

Yep. I don't claim to be "goth". I'm just me. I just happen to like much of the same music, films, books, general likes and dislikes, similar view points, different view points, an affinity for black, and so on, as many of the folks on this site and other "goth" avenues.

Being one of the geezers on here, I guess the biggest thing that helped mold me to who I am was exposure to punk when I was very young and eventually other alternative forms of music that also touched me. That and the disconnection I felt from my peers throughout highschool and early 20's.

i'm just here because i like gothic women. is that so wrong?

Posted

I'm here cause I like the music, my wardrobe used to be almost entirely black by coincidence and it was one of the labels I was repeatedly hit with

And HW no not wrong at all, that's the real reason I'm here

A goth is made when the goth fairy waves her gothic wand of course!

I'm not goth...I'ma Cherna-cyber-sasquatch-darkwave-synthpop-industrial-guru-drag-king-party-monster-lush-GOTH...

DAMN...the word goth is still in there...so apparantly according to the above phrase I am approximately... .076923 percent goth. If you were to express this in sine/cosine it would be something like:

Let 1 = x (cosine) and let 13 = y (sine). Sin = 13/h (let h be the hypotenuse...god I spelled that SO wrong) cos = 1/h, tan = 13/1. If you would then like to get technical... csc = h/13, sec = h/1, and cot = 1/13. If you wanna get REALLY REALLY technical...what I described is an impossible triangle...it cannot happen under normal conditions, at least not without adding in some imaginary numbers (yes...they do imaginarily exist believe-it-or-not. Just TRY to understand the square root of negative one...it'll baffle you for days, especially if you're really...REALLY...stoned. Even when you figured it out you haven't...because it's imaginary! Get it? Neither do I.)

So to make a long trigonomically infused story very VERY short and uncomplicated - most of us can't explain it. It's an impossible triangle with imaginary numbers I tell you...there's no way you could link your gothness tangently to any actual event in your life.(BWHAHA  *cough* haaa...haaa tangent...trigonometry...get it? Pun intended. Man I suck. ) If you can, you're a poser

Depends on the type of goth style

most common anymore are those whom feels they have to live out as a combination of a Charicter from stargate+animewith an addition of a painted resporater....

i do semi fall under that catagory minus the anime and the stargate and the addition of camo pants, bondage cuffs and band tshirts
