My kids both want cameras for their bday/chirstmas gifts.

So, I need some info. They want to be able to shoot at night.......or very low light....

It has to be digital and able to download the pics onto a laptop

I don't know if I should get automatic zoom or not.....?

And I have about 150 to 200 to spend on each.

You will want a camera that has night vision. Altho a camera with 0 lux capability might work. A buddy has a digital video camera that can do that. Haven't really noticed and still cameras that are digital that can do that. If you want, check out www.kodak.com. If they have one that can do that then go to their refurb section. You'll still get full waranties on the cameras but save almost 50% on cost.

What do you mean by shooting at night? If you mean moving people, that means flash and very limited distances. And pretty much everything has that in your price bracket. If you're shooting graveyards with no moving objects then you can put it on a tripod. Make sure it has the threaded adapter on the bottom. Low light is tricky. You need the ability to shoot at a high ISO without a lot of noise. (Grain in the film world.) That's not very likely in a point and shoot. Flash is your friend here too... as is a tripod. Flashes on Point and shoots suck though. Everything made now either has a cable or a memory card for data storage. They will all have auto focus but not auto zoom. Zoom is always a manually controlled function since the camera doesn't know how zoomed in or out you want the photo to be taken.
