Destroit Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 See I REFUSE to touch WoW. I have mostly guy friends, most of which play WoW, and MOST of which have been trying to get me to play WoW for about a year now. This is what happens when I play games: In highschool I stayed up for FIVE days...playing Harvest Moon 64. Yeah, that's right, a farming simulator had me hooked, I just HAD TO FEED THOSE CHICKENS. I couldn't stop planting things and harvesting...it was just so addicting. I still play the GBA version off and on (the best version imo) I've lost probably a total of 3 years and $250 to The Sims/Sims 2, I've played it for weeks every day. I clocked in 45 hours in Final Fantasy X in four days. Futhermore, I spent an ENTIRE Christmas break playing Kingdom Hearts...only to get to Halloween Land and then said "fukk dis". A few times I've played DDR to the point of near hospitalization - after 4 - 5 hours NOT because I was trying to burn calories but rather because I just HAD to unlock one more song... If I played WoW...you guys would never ever see me again. I don't know what WoW is about, I don't want to know what WoW is about, I refuse to know...my only goal is to keep it as far from my household as possible so that I don't succumb to its deadly gaming powers.
Daevion Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Im with daevion. That shit would take over my life, and I would be regularly calling in sick to work cause I would be staying up playing too much. I'd have no money to pay bills, and all my friends would move on cause i would never go out. Thats some bad shit to get hooked on. Like Chernobyl says, just say no. Games need to have an end. Thats exactly what happened...called off work, skipped classes, cancelled plans with family & friends. Didn't even want to leave my apartment to get food! I apparently have an addictive personality to MMO's. The temptation is still there since I almost started into second life, but stopped myself. I'll stick to my single player strategy games that actually have an end.
Amerist Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 WoW is how I stay in contact with large swaths of my friends, and some of my family. Sometimes when I cannot find them on IM networks, Facebook, or other places -- and it's too deep into the night to call anyone -- I can log into WoW and find someone chattering away. I wouldn't mind little weekend sessions with DGNers just to chat and romp around Azeroth. If anyone would be amendable to taking a break from their quotidian raiding to simply roll baby chars on some light membership servers so that we could just chill on some Saturday/Sunday afternoon for a few hours, I wouldn't mind that kind of company. I am not a hardcore raider, I do keep myself available to my guild (who are all friends who have moved away) when they're down a player and often jump in to fill spots. Also, it would be interesting to get to know other DGNers in this environment -- we are, after all, veteran of cyberspace, WoW is just another context.
freydis Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 If anyone's going to organize it, post the info......
Azeuron Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 i vote we all roll gnomes and go try and take down hogger... but thats just me it would be fun
Daevion Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 I admit I did enjoy playing my undead warlock when I was into WoW...
Amerist Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Okay. Unfortunately I don't have AIM info on most of the people here. But, go to my profile for my AIM (or PM me if another network, I am on several.) I am voting Azuremyst it is a medium load PvE. Gnomes works for me, so I'm rolling one to start. I suggest that we simply vote Horde/Alliance, here's the load out we should start with to be social as quickly as possible. Going Horde: Orc or Troll Going Alliance: Dwarf or Gnome Leeway can be given for players who are really good at getting to other baby areas, but I suggest that the most people take up the type that are in the same area. For example. I am extremely good at getting undead/blood-elves into the orc starting area. Just IM me. I'll even go if I only have one person on my list. I would mind a day out just for the distraction.
