Has anyone played this since it came out last week? I rented it from the video store on Sunday and I've already beat it. I will admit it's harder than the standard RE games and it's much different as a first person shooter with arcade style play, but it was TOO SHORT. It would have been a great way to hold me over until RE5 comes out if it was just a bit longer.

RE5 isnt coming out until 2009 so there is no way umbrella chtonicles could have held you over until it came out.

RE5 comes out in 2008.

Oh, they changed it again. GameStop has it listed for release on xBox 360 on Jan 1st!! But now I'm reading an article that says RE5 won't start shipping until late 2008 --- which is when I originally expected it to for a long time now. My husband is the one who told me it would be out in a couple months. *sob* my hopes and dreams are crushed now! :)

I didn't play through the whole thing but I heard it was too short, I liked it. I played the game on my friend's big screen HDTV, and it still took me awhile to get good at it (neither of us had zappers).

I didn't get the zapper for it. It is definitely not an easy game - especially because it is so different from the previous installments other consoles. It was actually a really awesome game and I was so excited about it the first night (I played about 1.5 to 2 hours) and then, when it was over an hour after I got back into it last night, I was like, WTF? It's over? It could have been so great if there was more to it!

games like that can be trickey as far as how long they should be. You want it to last a few hours but not to long to where you just have no choice to get tired of it I for one thought that re4 was to long for the type of game it was.

i just want a 360... you know that XBOX is gonna be putting out (if they haven't already) a 360 that's cheaper, because its not backwords compatible.... which blows, tho.. i want the newer black ones that have more memory, and other such good shit, that's still backwords compatible... then maybe i'll mod it.... hhmmm.... i need some funds... then i can invest in getting all the original XBOX games that I love, and then all the XBOX 360 games that I hope to love....

I agree about RE4. It was very long and I got tired of it - even though it was a great game. I can replay the other installments every so often, but I've never picked up RE4 after the first time I beat it. But.. Umbrella Chronicles needed to be longer. No doubt about that.

The 360 isnt that much cheaper and in order to get the backwards compatibility you need to download a patch from xbox live the patch itself doesnt cost anything but you need to pay for live even if you only plan on using it to play older games (on the other hand though there is no point to owning a 360 unless you plan on getting live because most of its games are based around online play)

i know dis.... that's why i haven't gotten one... can't afford to pay for live... *sniffles* i lost my original xbox when i got evicted... along with $900 worth of games.... so yeah, i have no game systems.... *sniffles again* i can't even find a god forsaken job around here... and im not taking my clothes off for money, unless its at a DGN party, and ppl wanna slip me 20's every once in a while... im just kidding.... if its a party, i get naked for free... as long as i have drink in me... lol

Well when you think about it all resident evil and silent hill games (save for re4) can easily be beat in about 4 hours on the 2nd playthrough since you already know what to do. the new re game is a rail based shooter like house of the dead so it get rid of the guess work of what it is to do (unless its like finding a weak point on a boss) and you just have to aim and fire.

I know. I beat it in what seemed like minutes - although it was actually about 2.5 hours total between 2 nights. It was just a total shock that it was over that quickly.

That is pretty weak. How is the story? that would be the only real reason for me to think of playing the game.

It takes you through each of the installments from Zero to Nemesis but very briefly. Chapter 1 is Zero, Chapter 2 is the original RE and chapter 3 is a combination of 2 and 3. It was cool being in all the parts of the other games in a different game (the train, the mansion, RPD etc.) but it just seems like it barely touches on each. There are 3 chapters, as I mentioned, and each contains 3 sub-chapters. There are also some unlockable side missions (sort of like in RE4) based on your rank for each. It's definitely worth the rent, but I won't buy it now.

I thought that after the re 0-3 parts that there was a new one that took place in alaska that tied up the ordeal with Wesker and umbrela.

there is one that has wesker in it. it's one of the "side" missions that I mentioned.

Theres the rebirth side missions as him but the last part of the main story is of him in russia (not alaska) I think you might have to unlock it though.

I like the fact that it touches down on the older games because those games kinda shaped my teenagehood, but 2.5 hours? Thanks for warning to rent and not buy. Do they just take you through the original cities/settings or are there any original characters in it also? Just curious.
