phee Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 i hate rap songs that u cant understand....... i hate lil jon and others why dose rap suck I simply like music that is "good" by my standards, and don't listen to music that is "not good" by my standards... regardless of genre.... granted there are certain genres that I enjoy more often... but yeah.

DJ Nocker Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 wow you have fun with that ,,, i hate that song... .i used to love it intill it got old i think that was sarcasm
Scary Guy Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 i think that was sarcasm Which is apparently lost on her. Here's some irony too, she likes Slipknot, which is "numetal" which I define as a mix of actual metal and rap lyrics, which I view to be just as bad as "rap".
Destroit Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I don't entirely rule out rap, there's a bit of it I like (would anyone have guessed I'm actually a pretty avid Shakur fan? Yeaaaah...pullin' out the big skeletons here, folks , I even thought he was still alive until 2003, there's a specific reason why I don't now but still, it's just silly). I will say I'm not MUCH for Lil' Jon because he pretty much uses three words "WHAT?!" "YEAH!" "OKAY!" (for more information on this...see Chappelle Show). I will say I got sick of that "Get Low" song DAMN quick, but if it comes on in a club and I'm drunk enough, sure I'll shake my shit, why not? What I HATE now...is the new like reggae-rap-pop trend (just turn on 95.5...you'll know what I'm talking about since it's ALL they play now). Where it's some horrible R & B pop type of beat with some asshole like Sean Paul just rambling crap with this fake Jamaican accent. ALL NEW RAPPERS have that Jamaican accent...yet I HIGHLY doubt that places such as NYC and Los Angeles are anywhere near the island... Not only is it fakey fake...it just SOUNDS ANNOYING. Totally fucking annoying. If I had to choose between listening to that new rap Jamaican babble stuff or emo...I'd take a bullet instead . Sorta like when Madonna started using a British accent...I mean who the hell is she trying to fool? I've been to Rochester (where she's from) and sure they're rich but that doesn't mean they all of a sudden developed some accent to sound like Robin Leech or something.
nilhil_glory Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 i wasnt being sarcastic... i was being a goofball i love older stuff i love regge but reggeation needs to die now on that note target="_blankfor seriouse
DJDeadbeat Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Modern rap is rubbish, bigot, sexist, homophobic, violent, and ignorant. However, old school hip hop is where its at. Slick Rick for example spoke of how to better yourself, not end up on the streets, treat women and your parents with respect, all with panache and humour. He spoke of the truth. Others such as Whodini, KRS, Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, etc were the same.

That's a good reason I don't like the new stuff. If I may, I'm not judging you btw I'm just curious, what year would you consider the "beggining"-ish of so called modern rap? There's no wrong answer obviously, just asking your opinion, especially since you seem to know all sorts about all types of music and your knowledge defiantely dwarfs mine in that category.
Destroit Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 but reggeation needs to die VIVA LA REVOLUTION! How do you suppose we take 'em all out ?
nilhil_glory Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 VIVA LA REVOLUTION! How do you suppose we take 'em all out ? we bring them back to the rastifarian roots and then we send them bobsledding
Homicidalheathen Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I hate some rap music too lol most of it. Love Chappell doing lil John fuckin hellarious
Burrich1 Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 What about Chris Parnell on Saturday Night Live rapping. He rules.

Eazy E was more second wave rap, which was glorifying stupid thug like rather than discouraging it like the early scene did. But hey, "THE BOIZ IN DA HOOD ARE ALWAYS HARD".

Personally I equate it with the death of the 80's, just to ballpark it I guess. I did see something the other day that made me laugh. http://www.jamphat.com/rap I also thought about one graph in particular which compares music from back then with music of today.

But hey, "THE BOIZ IN DA HOOD ARE ALWAYS HARD". So you're talkin' OLD OLD old rap scene, kay that's what I was wondering about. Yeah you are correct about that, rap was definately a very different monster in those days.
nilhil_glory Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 This is true rap phee check this out hahahaha

nilhil_glory Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 i mean like umm hard core rap like ill it talk about is sex in shit all music genres now adays is mostly about sex you need to listen to the vnv nation-cold_rated r mix it doesnt get much dirtier than that
Scary Guy Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 i mean like umm hard core rap like ill it talk about is sex in shit Content of the music has nothing to do with the musical style/genre. What you should have said was you hated rap (or any) music that specifically glorifies sex, drugs, gang bangin, and the playa lifestyle in general. Rap to me is the lack of harmony in the spoken lyrics. Also and Classic examples for real This one is pretty "epic" right here First instance of "numetal" I can think of that actually didn't suck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljB4kYSnxHQ The middle of this song I've never liked since it just sounds stupid, I edited it out of my mp3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXeUXLzD3o4 Classic
Hellion Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 The gangsta crap rap is the most annoying music around,Now Two Live crew was hilarious!!
phee Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I hate the rap music that I don't like, just not all of it.... (yeah it was supposed to be silly)
