They were testing high-end notebooks, not cheapies. My MacBook Pro was $4000. I could have saved some $$$ by getting the extra 2GB (4GB total) in the aftermarket, but we decided it was better to have it all under Applecare.

So yeah... Run XP, Vista, OSX.. Linux, whatever... all on the same machine.

They were testing high-end notebooks, not cheapies. My MacBook Pro was $4000. I could have saved some $$$ by getting the extra 2GB (4GB total) in the aftermarket, but we decided it was better to have it all under Applecare.

So yeah... Run XP, Vista, OSX.. Linux, whatever... all on the same machine.

AppleCare is a WONDERRFUL thing.

It took about an hour for them to replace my case when it started cracking on the inside outer edge... no questions asked.

(I found out later it was due to a flaw in the case design)

In red for my white MacBook. It's awesome. LOL, its scratched up a bunch, but all those scratchs would be on my MacBook if I didn't have that.

That's one of the things I like about Apple ... when was the last time you some something all cool, functional and useful for a Windows laptop?

and how is being able to run any OS you want on a Mac better than the same thing on a PC? I mean, hardware wise, they are exactly the same thing and you can in fact run OSx on a PC natively.

Also, the fastest? The fastest they tested.

There are gaming laptops with Core 2 Duo X7900s which are far faster than the Core 2 Duo T7700 in that. Also, that has a 8600m GT which is far slower than the 8800m GTX you can get in gaming laptops even if you opt out of getting two in SLI. Thats a 5400rpm drive... which is again, slower than the 7200rpm drives you can get and for some reason a solid state drive isn't even an option on the Mac nor is having two drives in RAID.

To me, the Mac Book Pro comes off as a damn fast mid range laptop.

but really, anyone claiming to have the fastest anything better have a damn * next to it leading to the disclaimer. Someone like me is going to read the article and look for the methodology of the testing, what was tested and what it was pitted against. Without specific details it's just an advertisement masquerading as a real review.

I totally agree. It may be the fastest... for that five minutes of time, under their testing methods... blah blah blah. I just knew someone would take issue with it. :-)
