Fierce Critter Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 We saw this Christmas Day. I had NO CLUE that he had a German Shepherd in it. And at the time, our Oakley was still lost. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD choice of movie under the circumstances. I spent the entire film trying to hold back sobs. HH already spoiled the dog bit, so I'll just say that when the dog dies, I finally couldn't hold it back anymore and I wept and sobbed uncontrollably and loudly. The guy sitting next to me gave me a huge stack of paper napkins, and I went through every one of them. It made it really hard for me to actually enjoy the movie in the detail that I could have. I'll be rewatching it on DVD or maybe going to see it again by myself now that Oakley is home and we're all happy again. As for gas, electric, etc - in the previous movies, you see his stash of generators and related stuff. I could have sworn they showed them in this, but I guess it's kinda assumed. Running water - I'm no expert, but I'm willing to bet that with one single man running water for 3 years by himself, it's plausible that what's left in the municipal sources might be enough to sustain him. I'd like to say I enjoyed it, as "end of the world" scenerios are some of my favorite. But under the circumstances, I wasn't able to take it in like I ordinarily would.
