ok, for real this time (no april fools :wink )

i was officially recognized today at the Wayne State History Depts award reception. i was awarded the Sterne-Lion Scholarship for a paper i wrote last year on the similarities and differences in the hagiography of eastern and western saints in late antiquity. here is a copy of the email announcement.

"Dear Chris,

On behalf of the Department of History, I would like to congratulate you on having been chosen as one of two recipients of the inaugural Michael Loewe Sterne-Lion Scholarship, which is granted to a student who has demonstrated uncommon excellence in advanced courses and thus shows great promise. You were one of several outstanding candidates considered for the award, so your accomplishment is especially impressive.

The award, which carries a generous $1,250 scholarship, will be bestowed upon you at the department's annual Spring Reception on Thursday, April 14, 3:00-5:00 pm."

the $1250 is the half amount, which means the total amount is a very impressive $2500 award.

im very stoked.

Congrats!

I loved Wayne State. I went there starting in 1986, then on-and-off for a few years afterwards.

That's such a good school.
