Noope, but I've always liked the sound. Actually to me harmonica is eerie sounding and that's why I like it.

The reason I like Gorillaz so much (one of my fav non-industrial bands) is because of their use of the harmonica. Gives it this rustic ghosty sounding eerie abandoned quality.

I know just what you mean, it puts your thoughts in a different world when you hear it. Its even better when you are playing it. Do you happen to play any thing?

I havn't touched one in years... and I own 5. They gather dust in a box somewhere... i played around with them when i was young but never got good.

Why not? If i had five i would practice every day of my life as much as i could. ITs the only thing i can do with instruments as of right now.

Why?

Why does a painter choose a certain type of paint?

You need the right medium to express yourself fully... and harmonica was not mine.

I have one, and occasionally pick it up and teach myself something on it, but it’s like all other musical instruments for me. Piano, Banjo, Harmonica, guitar. I can figure something out fairly quickly on any of them, but it doesn't take long for me to lose interest, and set them back down. Guess I have too many other priorities in my life.

As boring as it is, and most DGNers don't know this (I withhold info to keep it interesting ) but I'm actually a pianist.

Something else DGNers don't know is that I'm classically trained to play trombone, and have played for 12 years.

I fuck around with bass sometimes, but it's pretty easy so I get bored with it.

I have three guitars but then realized I hate how guitar sounds, especially acoustic. I hardly play them.

Also when I mean "classically trained" I probably know enough on reading actual sheet music to get me through a few symphonies and then some, with minor difficulty.

I hate TABS - such a cop out! I don't do tabs, if you can read real music tabs are just silly. I bring up the DDR vs. GH thing all the time, I know, but it's kinda like if you're good at the game Dance Dance Revolution then Guitar Hero is just a whole lotta stupid, since DDR actually takes work and effort. Kinda like that.

And now...y'all know :)

Oh it sucks, it's way harder than anything else I've played. I guess I like the challenge...?

It's hard because you have to read in two different clefs at the same time, I have trouble with treble clef (because I'm trained in trombone, which reads bass clef. Hense bass guitar being a cake walk for me), but practice makes perfect. TWO different lines of music at once is maddening at first...

I hate the pedal thing with pianos the most, you have to use both hands and both feet just to play the fucking instrument! It's cumbersome to say the least...

I may want to do industrial/ebm type stuff, you know, when I grow talent. That's why I picked piano, you play piano and you can do almost anything after that. Also the type of music I'd want to do would involve keyboardness.

In all seriousness, I love the sound of them. I almost bought one from Huber and Breeze like five years ago.

My Boshy is a music teacher and she didn't even know what one was! I thought that was hilarious. She was all "Yeah, 'cause I'm sure you know..." and I explained to her the origin of them and had never even heard of one. Then, if I remember correctly, we both tried to play it but she couldn't get a sound out of the thing whereas I could.

I used to and was quite good at it......have not picked it up in a few years since we started writing electronically......I miss doing blues at tijmes its just too simple for me these days

That may be true, but thats what makes it all the more funner is that it is not well known. In that way it is as if you are studying lost relics of the past so to speak.

I cant play anything.

I've tried.

But i can sing. :)

I am the same way, i am finding it harder and harder to play any thing.

But at least i can kinda sing.

My dad has always had a large collection of harmonicas. The type with key changer-buttons you can push, really beautiful big ones in wooden cases with felt linings.

I picked it up a bit when I was a kid. But the only thing I ever taught myself was "Oh, Susanna." And that is soooooo not goth. :D

I just never got really into it. And my harmonica fell apart. :(

Never played the harmonica.

I did play the flute from the 6th grade til the 12th grade. I was also in the marching band for three years.

The flute is about the only insturment I know how to play.

I love the sound of the piano, drums, and the harmonica though.

Kudos to the people that know how to play them and have the patience to learn.

I do like the sound of the guitar. My boyfriend plays it and I love listening to him practice.

He plays the electric guitar and also the acoustic. I have fell in love with the sound that it makes.

I say we change the words to Oh Susanna and make it goth.
