sleeping standing up with your eyes open is something i picked up in university after organising a rock night at a local club then crawling into a gruelling 8 hrs straight in same lecture hall.

Daevion, i used to have the same issue, theres methods of meditation to help switch off

I really need to learn those

i took lumnesta once...and slept for 27 hours lol it was nice good sleep but you know, try and hold down a job or something....pretty impossible :)

That stuff worked really well for me...knocked me out in about 20 min and I would wake feeling rested...damn insurance wouldn't pay for it tho

School and being all sorts of bummed out.

Combination of liquor, over the counter sleep aids, and self gratification. If all else fails, I read a nursing magazine. I go see doc soon, maybe a new prescription to look forward to.

When the weather is a little nicer than it is now, walking in the fresh air makes me sleep well. Also, reading, watching TV, playing video games or anything else that takes my focus away from my own life and problems right before bed helps. Wine makes me sleepy, usually when I don't want to be.

Some nights, though, I can't stop thinking no matter how hard I try. I've never tried prescription sleep aids, honestly I'm a little afraid to, but OTC stuff never did anything for me.

I have extreme trouble turning off my mind, no matter how exhausted. I was afraid to try prescription stuff or even use over the counter stuff. I didn't want to become addicted and worried about side effects. Plus, I absolutely hate taking meds. Eventually, I just couldn't function anymore. My Doctor prescribed me Ambien. I told him I was worried about being able to wake up before planned if I need to. He said it should be OK. I tried it. It helped. Sometimes I woke up dizzy though, but I wake up dizzy sometimes when I am not medicated too. Hard to tell if it was the med. I try to only take it when absolutely necessary. I'm out now do to an unfortunate dumping incident. I go to the neurologist next week. We'll see what they have to say.

Wait a minute, I had a point. If you are having trouble sleeping and it is interfering with your life, talk with your doctor about options. Try a medication when you don't have to be anywhere the next morning to see how it effects YOU. Only take it when you need to, and pay attention for side effects. They can improve your life. Life constantly exhausted can't really be enjoyed, in my own experience, anyway.

I have trouble sleeping. If I get a straight 2-3 hours a night I'm lucky. I have a very hard time falling asleep. I've tried making a nightly routine for myself, doing the same thing every night so that I could bore myself into getting sleepy, but it doesn't work. My brain doesn't shut off, even if I sit there and think about little puppy dogs and kitties. I'm just not wired for sleep I think lol

Taking some meds tonight b/c I really don't feel well...

And probably being tired from school and working all day will do the trick too.

Call me weird, but the weather channel does it for me. If that doesn't work there's nothing like old Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodes.

me thinks tonight, it will be a combo of being up since 430a, going to school, going to work, and a glass of wine.

Only getting 5 hrs of sleep last nite will prolly do it.

Never had any trouble sleeping till I started on the buprenorphine last month... gawd I hate it! Don't know how people go their whole lives like this, would drive me absolutely batshit. Sleep is such a blessing... I've always thought so, even more now.
