Slept with ghost Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Has anybody else played this amazing game yet?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Yes. I bought it as a Christmas prsent for one of my sons. He beat the game in 3.5 hours and now is playing the multiplayer daily. I'm about halfway through it but I am playing on the hardest difficulty setting.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 BTW... I was so pissed off when my US soldier died in the helicopter crash.
Slept with ghost Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 Im often one who is against games with such a short single player campaign just to leave the rest to multiplayer but when a game is that deep and well thought out in both on and offline I just cant find anything to complain about.
odims_sphere Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I just picked up call of duty 4 the other day, which forced me to get a new video card but I just started playing it yesterday. I must say it is SUPER WICKED SWEET! Any one else play? if so do you play online?
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I hav the game... but the kids scretched the DVD... and I just reinstalled my system... I need to finish it damnit. so um... don't get to attached to the USA charactor.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 BTW.. whats amazing is thats it's a DX9 game... fanfuckingtastic graphics for DX9. Rivals some DX10 stuff.
Destroit Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 We played it at a friend's house and I liked it because the opening scene started out with me saying "Wait...that place looks REALLY familiar...especially that ferris wheel." Then it said "Pritpyat, Ukraine" and then I was in awe on how accurately they portrayed Chernobyl . My friends all thought it was freakish, they're like "So that's where you're named after...fucking BADASS". Literally EVERY SINGLE building and structure, car and house, in the beginning scene is 100% accurate (keep in mind cars and everything in Chernobyl is exactly the same way it was 20 something years ago). I was impressed. Oh and the gameplay? Raven plays COD3 religiously, is one of the best online players for the game and I totally owned him my first time. By "totally owned" I mean something along the lines of 13 - 2. It was awesome, our friends still make fun of him for it. I don't even play first person shooters. Since I'm being forced to get an Xbox 360 in order to play DDR (bastards, I hate Xbox) since that's who they're going with, Raven's getting COD4, so hang in there Odims, you'll have someone to go online and play against soon enough.
Slept with ghost Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 heh I started a thread on this a few months ago. I do play online so if its on ps3 then add me my name is sleptwithghost.
odims_sphere Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 heh I started a thread on this a few months ago. I do play online so if its on ps3 then add me my name is sleptwithghost. Doh! sorry.. When I get time I'll dig your's back up and combine them.
Slept with ghost Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 thats cool. I read your post again and noticed it was pc you were talking about. In the console versions after you reack rank 55 online you can enter prestige mode which gives you a nifty tag next to your name. The downside is you lose all weapons and perks. It can be done 10 times but I am still on my first because I kinda suck at aiming.........well I really suck at it........most of my kills are with the knife and martyrdom.
Slept with ghost Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 oh and there will be a DDR on ps3.
Soulrev Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Yeah I've been playing COD4 since it was released. Same with COD2, and COD. I don't do clans but my friends are in a COD4/COD2 clan called BHC and they're pretty much always recruiting if you're a good player and you're good at Tactical Realism. Let me know if you're interested maybe I can get you in.
Slept with ghost Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 my clan is called FURY. Theres only 3 people including myself in it.
odims_sphere Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Just curious, I'm new to tho online gaming. Will this game cross platform? Meaning can Xbox live people play against playstation and PC?
Slept with ghost Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 for this game no. microsoft is trying hard to make a good amount of their games to be cross playable with 360 and vista. but in the case of 3rd party non exclusive games like this one theres not much of a chance of that happening. ps3 games don't have the option at all as of yet. though everquest 3 might try it.
Slept with ghost Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 did you grab the game of the year version?
odims_sphere Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 so um... don't get to attached to the USA charactor. DAMMIT!!! No more Sgt. Paul Jackson for me.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 DAMMIT!!! No more Sgt. Paul Jackson for me. When it happens.. even though you know it;'s coming.... your going to shit. I wont tell you how it happens... but its never anytthing I ever ever ever want to see happen from a first person view. I do so want to read your thoughts on it.
Slept with ghost Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 I damn near cried when it happened. its not nearly as bad as the games ending though.
odims_sphere Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 When it happens.. even though you know it;'s coming.... your going to shit. I wont tell you how it happens... but its never anytthing I ever ever ever want to see happen from a first person view. I do so want to read your thoughts on it. OMG It sucks! Just as you think everything is good, you rescue the downed cobra pilot, you take off then BLAM!! Oh and I got dizzy just watching the screen as the chopper spun out of control. The realism, (graphically), is just outstanding. I have to say if I was in that same situation though I would have had to go back for the cobra pilot. The *right* decision would have been to leave, but I don't think I, or most modern military personel, would have been able to live with themselves had they, (I), just left a fallen comrade to die.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I just sat there in shock for a while.
amalthea23 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 We played it at a friend's house and I liked it because the opening scene started out with me saying "Wait...that place looks REALLY familiar...especially that ferris wheel." Then it said "Pritpyat, Ukraine" and then I was in awe on how accurately they portrayed Chernobyl . My friends all thought it was freakish, they're like "So that's where you're named after...fucking BADASS". I am in awe that there are people who haven't heard of Chernobyl.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 yes well... education in this country has gone down hill in the last 30 years. There are a great many people that think that the Tet Offensive was successful, even though even the N. Vietnamese refer to it as a dismal failure on their part.
