WOW! I forgot you can purchase those little dudes.

Out of the 9 little ones I've helped raise over the past 20+ years, only 2 were given to us after they had been purchased from the Humane Society.

One was given to us because it was the runt of the litter.

Three just showed up and made themselves at home.

One followed me home.

And 2 were rescued from the street outside our house a year apart from each other.

There is a southern belief that a stray animal coming to your home brings good luck, so my mother very seldom turns any animal away and even then the circumstance would have to be grave...
