Fierce Critter Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Basically, the listing fee is going down by a nickel. But the selling fees are being raised by 67% to 8.75%!!!! This is supposed to benefit sellers who gripe that listing items that don't sell costs them too much. I DON'T SELL THINGS THAT I THINK WON'T SELL. I do my research carefully to see if an item is worth listing. When I list 10-20 items at a time, at most, 1-3 items won't get bids. And in recent years, that's more often 1-2. Maybe. And now, you can't leave negative feedback for BUYERS. Can I tell you the stories of the 3 assholes who left me negative feedback in almost 9 years of selling on eBay? About how they were very obviously major asshats who LIVE to cause grief over complete bullshit? How the threat of negative feedback was the ONLY real weapon I had to wield against potential jerkoffs like this? (I only give reciprocal feedback - buyer has to give it first, then I'll give in kind). I was going to return to full-time selling again this late spring/early summer. I probably still will. I just wish to God there were a viable alternative to eBay on the web. Sigh.
Onyx Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Critter - I thought of you when I saw this article: EBay's PayPal funds freeze plan draws fire http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/08/smbusiness...dex.htm?cnn=yes This one might give you some ideas for new business. (Maybe not to completely replace Ebay, but in addition as a supplement since they are screwing sellers so badly). eBay backlash: 5 sellers who ditched it: http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2008/fsb/08....fsb/index.html and http://bidtopia.com/ (there are a few others also you might branch out to also)
