Computer Aided Music - Recording Vocals

Does anyone happen to know of a good way to record vocals? I have a few methods that I use, but I would appreciate any insight. I have just about any software program there is for recording, but am not sure what the best solution is. I do know what I'd like to try however.....

Ok, so I guess the best place to start is my environment:

I'm on a fresh Windows XP SP2 INSTALL. I'm not exactly sure whether or not my sound card's audio recording is optimized (i had some trouble on my last install with my m-audio delta 1010lt but i assumed it was from a janky SP1 install followed up by an SP2 PATCH "i was in a bit of a hurry for work related reasons")

Anyways, now that I'm on a new install, despite my tendency to record my vocals in FL Studio, I was thinking of exporting my tracks as wav files, writing a midi piano part in perfect time and pitch with my lyrics, and then sing over the piano part (with the piano in my headphones as well as a metronome and light harmony that represents the key changes as a temporary fill til I'm done recording). I was thinking this way if I recorded externally, I'd be in perfect time, but if I do decide to record internally, I still have that option.

Now my question is this. Is there an easy way in any application to import a wav file, and have the vocal recording match the piano part from a rhythmic perspective so that I can make up for any delay? I think I can record at 40 ms pretty easily, but was hoping for a "perfect" solution or the next best thing that works both to.

A) IMPORT AUDIO RECORDED IN AN EXTERNAL APP SEAMLESSLY INTO FRUITY

AND

B) RECORD AUDIO IN ANOTHER SOLUTION BETTER THAN FRUITY THAT HAS EXCELLENT VOCAL RECORDING SUPPORT TOOLS.

Personally, I'd like to know how to do both.

Also for reference, I'm recording through a condenser mic with phantom power through a Behringer Eurotrack before going to my M-Audio Delta 1010LT.

Try Sonic foundry or if you have the cash the next step up is Pro Tools.
