That depends =) Here in A2 there are a bunch of things due to the fact that I live about a 5 min walk from central Campus and the Arb.

A really good idea, look in your local paper. Sometimes in the weekend section they will have free and interesting things to do.

Walk around your local down town, google art/photograph studios in your area and go to a showing just to look.

Find out of there is an apple store in your area and GO PLAY!!!! Nothing like a grown ups toy store.

Actually this isn't free per se, but I has a pretty good/goth one that shouldn't be too costly. Find a local coffee shop, grab a book or one to write in, and sit there and you know...do coffee shop stuffs. May also be a good weapon for recruiting new DGN members too, since other gothy/scene peoples tend to hang out in such places.

I love to skate. Fucking love it. And, its free after you get the skates. Belle Isle.....

You don't even need gas...if you live in the city you can just go from your house.....

Also, you can buy used skates pretty cheap in the off season (now)

I go browse at Barnes n Noble without buying anything too. I speed read a few books and leave. I figure I spend enough money there the rest of the year they owe me one or two.

I know this may cost you a couple of bucks, but if you have a cheap theater near you, you can go and catch yourself a movie.

Hint: Make some popcorn and bring your own drinks. That would also make it a LOT cheaper.

Go rolleskating! All of the rinks have an adult night and they play 80s and 90s music, sometimes even Depeche Mode! And they ALWAYS play some Pretty Young Thing at least once. Yeah!

The bookstore suggestion is one thats a bit scary for me since i can go to a bookstore and be MIA for as many hours as the place is open for, but i almost always end up spending money, on books i might get too sometime in 2010 hehe. It definitely does have its allure though.

Yes, like art galleries! $10 to $200?!? When I lived downtown, I lived right next to C-Pop, and they had a new artist opening the first Friday of the month or something like that. And it was free! There were other galleries in the area, too, that had openings, I just don't remember the names anymore or which day they had new artists.

And, speaking of first Fridays, the DIA is re-opened and they have stuff going on ALL the time! I haven't been since the re-opening but I hear it's wonderful. And it's like $4 to get in.
