Dgn Camping Trip JULY 11, 12, & 13th!

It would be SUPER hilarious! I'm not volunteering though. Maybe when I lose all the weight that I want to, then I will get the ball rolling. But if everyone is stupid drunk they probably won't remember it all in the morning and then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

EUREKA! I think I've got it.

Two separate cabins...Lake Orion...nearby lakes, trails, fishing, etc...each fits TWENTY people...for only $80 a night, which would be dollars split between twenty people (we may not even need two cabins depending on who is going).

Theoretically the more people in one cabin, the cheaper the cost, so the closest we can get to either 20 people or 40 people the better. Basically if we can get 20 people for one cabin it will end up being only $4 a day per person. How cheap of a fucking vacation is that?

I'm going to post more, I just found a site with a bunch for cheap (the state webpage...I know I'm slow...it's like the last place I thought to check but the first that I should have), so I'll post more to get opinions.

Oooh I just found a totally sweet one in Brighton too, but I think it may be a little too much on the westside for alot of our eastside people. It is a back-up option.

It only has one cabin that fits 20 though and not two, but it has four other cabins that are family cabins. That's an idea I kinda like because we can throw all the singles/couples in the big cabin and families with kids can share family cabins.

It also has lakes, how effin sweet.

I'll keep looking.

I believe this one is cheaper than the other AND offers tent camping in the same place. Actually, this one is starting to sound better and better even if eastsidaz have to drive to get there.

Personally, I'm liking the layout of the Brighton one better, and it is more family oriented. Also, like I said, tent campers can rent out a tent lot, and they can't at Lake Orion.

I think the whole thing sounds like a blast no matter where you have it. Not real sure I can commit to it, I may have a family camping trip in July up at Silver Lake, not sure when, plus, I have real bad allergies. If it doesn't land during the time that my family is going up north I may consider it then I can just come home if my allergies are too bad.

I did the Brighton thing with my parents and the girls a couple years ago. It was perfect. Each cabin was just far enough away from the others that you really didn't even feel like anyone was around... I'm game.

I've never done a cabin thing before, but I think that would be really cool. I know that my brother & sister-in-law do cabins alot & they go hiking, plus she is into the whole gps thing too, which I always thought would be cool to get into. That could be another thing we could all do sometime.

I'm there, if we can set a date in stone so I can request it off work. Do we still have an approximation for a date? And I'm bringing my boat again if its on a lake and I can get a trailer hitch for my car.

Kay, for a date I'm thinking toward the end of July. Obviously these things would probably be impossible to rent near the fourth, to me August is kinda the "dog days" of summer where it's really sticky and everyone's starting to lose the summer spirit, and anytime in June is too early for me (and probably alot of us, those with kids will probably just be getting into the summer swing and getting over the shock of the school year).

So...I guess what I will do is throw this out here, this weekend span as what I'm thinking:

The weekend of the 11 - 13th (July). This would be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If we wish then maybe we can either start on Thursday OR end on Monday, but that's only if I have a strong enough pull from people.

And no...the date has nothing to do with the fact that my birthday is on the 12th ....I swear

I'm putting that out there as the dates that is so far going to be "it" BUT the reason I'm doing this is so that if any of you what-so-ever CANNOT do it on this weekend (lemme remind you we're doing this months in advance so you have time to settle with your schedule) and are very interested in going then you can either let me know here or in PM.

I'm keeping in mind for instance, I know Candy/Odims have army stuff on some weekends and that's why I'm putting a date out is for people like those two, as an example, who need to know dates far in advance. There's probably others on this board that have things on their schedule that may not be able to be moved, so I want proper notice for everyone so that everything can be worked out to try and include as many people as possible.

SO...I will leave this date up here until this day next week (April 16th) and if I hear no complaints or problems I will assume that everyone who wants to go is fine with the weekend of July 11th - 13th (possibly including either the 10th or the 14th, if many would like to stay four days).

I will then reserve cabins, also send PMs to people in who sparked interest in this thread and ask if they are still wanting to maybe go and how many people they'd be bringing, and we'll go from there (so I can have a rough estimate).

After the 16th I will start to let everyone know about money and how we're handling that. It will be very cost effective for everyone from what I project (roughly four dollars a day per person, this depends on how many go, the more people in attendance the cheaper), but I will have more exact figures/pricing and also pricing for those who may want a family cabin (no small children in the larger "singles/couples" cabin, because many adults would not enjoy being in a cabin all weekend with children, sorry, especially if some adults choose to drink) and also for those who may want to tent camp.

Oh and btw, for everyone else, since nobody objected to me the weekend of July 11th-13th, that will be the weekend. More badassedly, my birthday is on July 12th, what better way to turn 23 than with the DGNers I love out in the middle of nowhere in Brighton .

I'll be PMing people who have shown interest in the trip, since I'm totally for serious about doing this, and asking things like: Are you still interested in going? How many people? Do you need a family cabin (because like I said, I don't want minors in the "main" cabin, only people over 21 please because there may be alcohol consumed), are you even going to be in the cabin or do you need a tent site?

Stuff like that, so expect some PMs coming from Cher.
