Homicidalheathen Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 The hills have eyes 1977 or 2006? http://www.filmfocus.co.uk/review.asp?ReviewID=20619
phee Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Most of the time... I would say the originals are better, with a few exceptions: The Thing Invasion of The Body Snatchers Battlestar Galactica To name a small few
Homicidalheathen Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 I usually go for the origional as well.......but with Silent Hill I think the remake was better Lots of remakes and comics these days
phee Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I usually go for the origional as well.......but with Silent Hill I think the remake was better Lots of remakes and comics these days Silent Hill? That was a video game adaptation not a remake I think.... was there an original Silent Hill movie that I am unaware of?
EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I can't wait for Silent Hill 2 ... Just the way it ended left me hanging T_T
Shade Everdark Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Silent Hill? That was a video game adaptation not a remake I think.... was there an original Silent Hill movie that I am unaware of? You are correct, it is an adaptation of a video game. There is no remake of Silent Hill, as only the one movie exists. That said, if you can find an emulator, or a copy of the disk, the first Silent Hill game is one well worth playing. I recommend doing so at night, with all the lights off.
EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 LoL yes that will give you some rocking good night dream vibes.. We did that when Resident Evil and Silent Hill came out on Play Station, I was so paranoid playing the game with the lights out and the volume at a decent tone.. I miss those days
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I rather liked the remake of The Haunting, but I don't know if it was better than the original. They were in essence two different kinds of movie... The House of Haunted Hill... I liked the original way better... Vincent Price!!! 13 Ghosts... defiantly the first one.

EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Also one of my Fav's Assault on Precinct 13, I liked the newer one a lot better than the old version. It looked more realistic and pack with action non-stop.
Destroit Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Silent Hill? That was a video game adaptation not a remake I think.... was there an original Silent Hill movie that I am unaware of? Definately NOT a remake. Hmmm...I'm wondering if I should start a thread, "Which video game movies are your favorite?" I will do it when I am not lazy. Not sure when that'll be, but sometime.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Doom!!! no wait... you said in a new thread...
jadnifer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I rather liked the remake of The Haunting, but I don't know if it was better than the original. They were in essence two different kinds of movie...The House of Haunted Hill... I liked the original way better... Vincent Price!!! 13 Ghosts... defiantly the first one. 13 Ghosts was a remake? I was TOTALLY unaware of that. I think that the remake rocked though. Especially when the lawyer got cut in half! Also one of my Fav's Assault on Precinct 13, I liked the newer one a lot better than the old version. It looked more realistic and pack with action non-stop. I had no idea that this one was a remake either. I saw the new one in the theater and I really liked it. It had a lot of action in it. A sequel that I think is better than the first one...well they are all equally about the same...is the Back to the Future trilogies. Another sequel that I think was better than the first one is Terminator 2: Judgment Day
pharoh Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Another sequel that I think was better than the first one is Terminator 2: Judgment Day No way.......nothing can beat the original.....T2 was just packaged with a bunch of bright and shiny's to catch everyone's attention. The first one was alot more dark, and captured the terminater way better (I just had to post a disagree on this one lol)

jadnifer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Hey, it's okay to disagree with me. I love to hear other's opinions on topics. *goes and cries in her corner* J/K
jadnifer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 The hills have eyes 1977 or 2006? http://www.filmfocus.co.uk/review.asp?ReviewID=20619 I have seen the remake. It disturbed me SO bad that I will NOT see the second movie and I will NOT watch this movie again. I don't even want to know what the original was like. It takes a LOT to disturb me and that movie just kinda put me over the top.
phee Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Remakes by nature are a strange beast. For one thing, if the original was good to begin with why remake it at all? (An example here is War Of The Worlds, the original from the 50's was friggen awesome, why did they remake it?)... If the original sucked, why remake it? (such as Ghosts of Mars).... In the case of good remakes... (like The Thing) it is like covering a song... remakes need to extract the parts that were good to begin with, while making it original... hard to do (Like in The Fog)... I like John Carpenter... can you tell?

That one was fairly distubing, but remind me to make you watch The Doom Generation with me. It's cheesy but it's enough to make everyone in a room uncomfortable at the same time (and it has Skinny Puppy in three seconds of it ). Hmmm...sequels. I didn't like the Scream series, but the second was better by far. Also the second Mortal Kombat movie was better because it had Sindel, Baraka, and Sheeva. Raven likes the first one better because he liked the actor who played Raiden in the first one.

Destroit Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Chris lambert.......from the highlander movies....... First one was way better by far for that as well. THAT'S right, I couldn't remember his name off the top of my head. He was definately a better Raiden, but I adore Baraka and Sindel, they're two of my favorites from the game, so that's why the second movie wins a little more with me. I also think Mileena was in the second one too, she's also in my top four favorites, I can't remember though... ....but I'll shut up about MK 'cause I could go on endlessly .
pharoh Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I agree with Al.... the first one is the best BY FAR I will say that I did like the storyline of the second one, but it was just missing something that was there in the first one.. Rocky Balboa on the other hand and the last rambo I will say were sequels that were as good as the original. I think Sly did those movies right.
pharoh Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 THAT'S right, I couldn't remember his name off the top of my head. He was definately a better Raiden, but I adore Baraka and Sindel, so that's why the second movie wins a little more with me. I get sindel, but baraka was a shame to me......because if you remember his storyline in the game, he was alittle more than a mindless killer. and I loved shao khan turning into a hydra....other than that same as before....I liked the storyline, but it was missing something in my opinion

Totally just brutal ass testosterone laden sharp people indigenous to Outworld. There's nothing wrong with that, right? They even look totally fucking sweet, awesomest looking character in the game. For his credit, in the newer games he has more of a storyline behind him and is more than just mindless, fairly dynamic and important to the continuation of the story.
