That's a rather interesting perspective. Although, I personally don't believe it but, I can see where they get that. It's all about the way kids are raised if you ask me. No mother would want her children being the subject of anothers abuse. You raise your kids with that awareness and what to look for and hopefully they make the right decisions. But, in the cases where these women stay in situations like that, kids should not be in that home. Kids learn more from observation of the parents actions/reactions then words.

they should read the older/non-canonical variants then. pre-Grimm/Perrault etc.

they were much better far less patronizing. all that crap came in when high culture got interested in them and started writing them down/writing their own. course they had to trump up the men and tame the women. perrault was writing during the reign of louis the 14th (huge proponent of paternal power) and the grimms, well, 19th century germany explains them...

you can imagine what all else came between those, if you think about the time period(s).
