torn asunder Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 i found a post on craigslist for an olympic weight set (300# set - 255# weights, 45# bar) for $80! then while talking with a bud, he tells me he's getting rid of his free weight home gym setup. i got it for $200 and he threw in his weight set (another 300# olympic set) for free! so now i have 560# of olympic free weights, 2 bars, (plus a standard weight set i've had for years - 160# w/multiple bars) and a kick-ass gym setup, for $280 which is less that the cost of a 1yr membership at my old gym! here's some pics of it!!
hunhee Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Holy crap.. it looks like a mid-evil sex torture machine.. (or at least that's what I would refer to it if it were in my possession). I think it would also help with the motivation to actually get ON the thing and USE it.. muahahahhaha..

Destroit Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Aww I'm jealous. Weight training is the main area that I've been lacking in since I've had to cancel my gym membership. I can do cardio at home but can only tone so much.
Draco1958 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I work at a self storage place. Each month there is an auction on units that are deliquent. A guy who bought one last year gave me a weight bench like this and some weights and chrome barbell and dumbells and someone else gave me a chrome curling bar. Gotta love getting deals. Hopeing to set it up soon and start working with it. Might have another bench to sell soon.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA Accident? I think not! Oh and sweet gym!
torn asunder Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 Oh and sweet gym! thanks! i'm definitely getting a lot of use out of it!
Pandora Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 thanks! i'm definitely getting a lot of use out of it! Ya I'm jealous! I don't mind gyms per se, but I'd much rather do my working out at home. When I get a job I think it'll be time to set up my own bench/weight system. Most of the machines at the gym are no match for good ol' fashioned strength training.
torn asunder Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 You so buff.....You are not a girly-man.....
Para Bellum Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Fucking AWESOME. Used to have a setup kind of like that but only 300#. Squats and deadlifts are my friends...:D
torn asunder Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 My home gym set up: keetle bell workouts! haven't tried them yet - what's your opinion? what weight/s is/are yours, and are they measured in poods, lbs, or kilo's? just curious!
n0Mad Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 keetle bell workouts! haven't tried them yet - what's your opinion? what weight/s is/are yours, and are they measured in poods, lbs, or kilo's? just curious! I'm working with a 25 pounder right now, just like the one in the pic. I got a few DVDs from the same company (gofit). I love the first DVD but the second one is just okay. I'm actually really enjoying the workouts. The exercises work most muscle groups in my body, including a few lower back muscles I didn't know I had. It's strength training and cardio all in one. Kettlebells aren't for everyone though. I know a few guys who are all into weights, strength training, and body building and they think they're wimpy. I know a few women who are all into aerobics and resistance workouts and they think the kettle bells are a bit much. I personally find my kettlebell to be a great overall workout though and thoroughly enjoy it. Plus, for me, it's an affordable alternative to machines, free weights, and/or joining a gym.
