Oh_My_Goth Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Who is your favorite artist????? Please share some of their work. I am all about Salvador Dali. Butterfly Landscape is one of my favorites. The way he depicts his outlook on life inspires my soul.
Fierce Critter Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Solitude: By Jean-Louis Gerome I have always loved this painting. But I'm also fond of Klee, Miro, Matisse. Google image search their names for representative work. I'm not fond of a ton of modern art. But those three use such lovely colors & shapes, they make me smile looking at their work.
Rev.Reverence Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Da Vinci Even before I knew he dug the occult. His stuff is so real, and I've always known I cannot do that. Truly awe inspiring.
Sybil Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 My dad!!!!! He draws.. paints.. builds things!!!!!! He is great at practical "around the house" stuff!!! And he is super creative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My parents have his paintings hanging all over their house.
vampire Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Jean Michelle Jarre and Vangelis (as the parents of electronical music) Rachmaninoff ... Vivaldi ... Enescu ... Bach (classical music) the impressionists Manet, Monet, Rodin, the onther guy ... the name escapes ... and the girl ...oi vei ... my memory's going to the toilet Sculptors by far my romanian Brancusi ... if you ever got to MOMA in NY he's pieces are in the same room with Picasso's dance ... well i like the way I dance ... but ballet for the more refined moves ... and clubs for the energy of expression.
Pandora Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Nicholas Roerich will always be my number 1. He was a Russian artist, and a prolific one at that, lived from 1874 to 1947. He was heavily influenced by Tibet, the Himalayas, India, Buddhism, and all things East and West Asian. There is a museum in NYC that is free to attend. It is located within a gorgeous 4 level brownstone on the upper west side. I would go weekly to sit and stare at these paintings in this amazing house, almost always alone for hours on end. Can't wait to get back to that routine. I'm a cloud/mountain freak so N. Roerich suits me perfectly. http://www.roerich.org/
Oh_My_Goth Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 Nice!!!!! Here is another Dali for ya..... The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory
hunhee Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 OH goodness I love art, I soon rather pick a star out of the sky than to pick the one true artist that goes with all my many moods and motifs.. but this one right here.. seems fitting for DGN It's by Henry Fuseli (German born in Switzerland I believe, moved to England) but anyway it's called "The Nightmare". It was featured in a movie called "Gothic" kind of a cheesie movie made in the '80's directed by Ken Russell (I believe). I shared this with a friend of mine recently. It's like Oh_My_Goth has been reading my emails..eheheh jk BTW I believe this hangs at the DIA.
