gothicmom Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Have you tried medications? My brother-in-law had an awful skin condition and he started taking Embrel and he started to heal right away.
Rozzlyn Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Have you tried medications? My brother-in-law had an awful skin condition and he started taking Embrel and he started to heal right away. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I had previously stated, I've tried MANY oral and topical medication, both prescription and OTC. I've found all of these to be minimally effective, at best.
pomba gira Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Shea butter- REAL 100% shea butter, most manufactured shea butter products have like 5% or less. Dudu Osun African black soap. Gotta be this brand (from Nigeria), other black soaps don't have the same ingredients. This amazing stuff works on psoriasis, exzema, good ol' acne, and a host of other skin ailments (I almost said "a rash of other skin ailments") You can find both on eBay, the soap runs about $3-5 a bar. Or if you know people who travel in West Africa, have them bring you some.
dragoth Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 There is nothing better than Avon: Moisture Therapy. Trust me, I have tried them ALL.
pomba gira Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 the Dudu Osun African black soap that is <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cool! If it's the people w/all the emu oil stuff, don't bother w/any of that unless you like really thick greasy body oils... I bought some & only used it once or twice, just didn't like the "feel" of it plus their shipping is too high :erm
JaneDead Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 not sure but there were only 2 people who showed having it. one from georgia and one from north carolina
JaneDead Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 anyone know if you can get 100 percent UNREFINED SHEA BUTTER from just any store? or have any suggestions on a good face lotion/cream or whatever? and not just any lotion. stuff that is good for the face, that is not greasy, oily, pore-clogging?
Brenda Starrr Posted May 14, 2005 Author Posted May 14, 2005 Check health food stores or natural supermarkets.
JaneDead Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 i found some on ebay so i was wondering if i should just buy it there? or wait and check some stores first?
Brenda Starrr Posted May 14, 2005 Author Posted May 14, 2005 It might be easier to buy it from Ebay. You may get it cheaper there.
JaneDead Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4357474938 that is what i found and was wondering if i should buy it. i just got some soap from them and i like it so far and they shipped it like monday- got it thursday so i know it would be good business with them too.
Brenda Starrr Posted May 14, 2005 Author Posted May 14, 2005 Looks like a trustworthy seller. Shea butter is wonderful stuff.
pomba gira Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 I have some I can sell you for much less than you'd pay on eBay.... I bought a whole pound last month, mainly 'cos it was priced so that buying less didn't make sense. So I have enough shea butter to last me the next few years... a little goes a long way! Otherwise, I would recommend looking at an afrocentric-oriented store. I bought mine from a lady at the Gratiot Meat Market (Eastern Market area), but she told me she wasn't going to have that location much longer. I could probably dig up her card if you want. But, that's how everyone in my family gets theirs (if they don't just buy it in West Africa)- from afrocentric businesses, a lot of whom sell from their homes or on the street & rely on word of mouth for business. edit- just realized I don't even know if you're in the metro area... if not then by all means go w/that eBay seller... looks pretty reliable & the shipping is reasonable!
