hunhee Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I have lost 15-ish lbs so far, and I'm thinking that soon, in another 15 ish more pounds, I will need help with finding my new fashion style. I want more dresses and skirts, and accessories, and pretty girlie things. If anyone wants to help me find a new style, please help!! I'm not clueless, just uninspired. I really don't like shopping, but this could be fun! I will also be entertaining new hair ideas. I haven't had my hair cut in like over a year, and I need something fresh and new!!! OH and I don't want to change the colour. I like it being the simple black that it is. I find that my hair colour is not anywhere near what comes out of a bottle. EDIT: OH!! I want a style that's classy for a 30 year old, I am saying bye bye to my 20's with style!
Brenda Starrr Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 For clothes: Look at magazines like InStyle. I love the clothes, but they're expensive. So, I look on the cheap in resale and thrift stores. I also purposely aim for clearance racks. For hair: Go to Debbie at London Calling on Gratiot. LOVE her! She really knows her shit. Tell her that Brenda sent you. Camille has gone to her as well. If you need makeup assistance, I can help you there for sure!
Brenda Starrr Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I'll go shopping with you. :-) Take me too, Daddy.
Msterbeau Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Take me too, Daddy. Sure. Just steal Jeff's credit card first. :-)

Jadnifer and I are both losing weight also, she's got off a MASSIVE amount so far (she's so addicted to DDR that she can't stop playing, literally, and burns anywhere from 900 - 1,400 calories a day playing...I've never seen anything like it ) and I've gotten off 9 lbs, because I'm lazy. SO since us three are going to be on Sexy Bitch Squad this summer...we should go to the mall and let everyone know how hott we are. Just a thought . If you want to accelerate your weight loss...give into DDR because you will not be able to STOP (like Jadnifer).

Oh HUSH, silly pants. You're sassafabu and you know it 'cause you're like 93% more Asian than myself, and I am teh jealous. I mean shit, you even just helped me coin my new status adjective: Sassafabu . If that's not something, I dunno what is. (And thanks for calling me fabu )
EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I always buy clothes from regular stores and alter them to fit my style. It's cheaper and unique. I mean just ask a few people on DGN that have seen me @ City Club lol. Everyone loves my clothes. About the hair I just usually try to flip trough European magazines to see what's in this season. They always have something interesting going on. Good luck !!! I know I'm trying to lose a few pounds myself. if you don't mind me asking how did you do it?

He only knows how to match his blacks. Always make your outfits YOU. Don't cow down to fashion. I mix things that most won't mix together. I like it like that.

Burrich1 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Good job on your weight loss hunhee. I did a drastic style change when lost a bunch of weight too. It was lots of fun shopping for skinny clothes, and donate about 12 inches of hair to locks of love. Maybe someday I can be persuaded to post some before and after pictures.... ...on second thought, it's not likely.

n0Mad Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Yeah..i joined a cult.. called weight watchers.. Rock on! Weight Watchers is the way to go because it's not some lame ass fad diet that doesn't work. They really teach you that losing weight (and keeping weight off) is a complete change in lifestyle and eating habits. And they teach you how to be healthy about it. Remember, don't skimp on your points. Use them all but don't go over (like "The Price is Right" lol).

She's looking a bit emaciated in the face, but she's thinner than she's been in years.
Draco1958 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 It depends on what style you are looking for. Are you looking at clubbing clothes, regular work/going out clothes? Sometimes I get good at picking things out but need to know what you are looking for. Always willing to give an honest opinion without being insulting about it.

Always willing to give an honest opinion without being insulting about it. work/hang out (other than club). the club stuff for me is easy, because I just think about my sexual fantasies, and I wear it, but the work/hang out where I LOOK 30 and don't pretend that I even remotely look 20 is what I want. I'm really REALLY tired of getting carded when I go out. I was with a friend of mine who's 38, and the girl carded me, I think she thought my friend was cute and wanted to usurp her authority over my drinking, to undermine my womanhood. *shrugs* *grumbles*bitch*grumbles* Anyway.. I'm looking for more classic/feminine/urban look.. if that's possible.

hunhee Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 When we going shopping? I gotta lose 10-15 more lbs. give me a couple more months I'm at a size 12, I want to be at least a size 10 maybe 8 by the time I look into this. I've found some stores (while shopping for a dress yesterday) and I like Ann Taylor, and I really loved Nordstroms (eeks). We'll see
Bernadette Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hey HunHee. Kudos to your progress! I'm a 30 something professional female -- and I like Talbots, Ann Taylor, Chicos, White House Black Market as specialty and age appropriate stores. Macy's/ Nordstrom's do the trick too, but require more hunting. And .. they are pricey, but they have membership clubs, so that you earn points and discounts, and most importantly COUPONS!!! I found the trick is to find interchangeable pieces so you can create more outfits. (although I've been told that I have WAY too many clothes anyway). OR, as others have said, take a look around at the shops, look for the clearance racks and/or similar fashion in less expensive venues (TJ MAXX, Nordstrom RACK, Loehmans, surf online clearance). Good Luck. I'd be happy to shop with you too!

Good Luck. I'd be happy to shop with you too! Heh.. my point is.. i HATE (really really really really) hate shopping.. I hate going to those stores (loehmans/TJ Maxx) type places, because if I find something, and it's slightly tight or loose, most likely, they're not going to have it in my size because they're a parts is parts kind of place. That to me is painful. I hate it. I went into Talbots, the colours right now are hideous.. I really HATE pastels.. but I forgot about White House Black Market, i LOVE that store. I've been in Chicos before, never really found anything that I thought shouted out to me that I'd like it. To me I equate it to something my mother would wear.. (sorry if that offended anyone). Don't they have a panty/bra place that is associated with them? I went into Macy's (just bought a simple elegant black dress from them..Audrey Hepburn/Breakfast at Tiffanys-esque, for $40, the dress was originally $180, so I definitely got a deal! (at least I think so).
TygerLili Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 For more expensive to mid-priced stuff that I have to try to catch sales or clearance, I like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, New York and Company, H&M, Arden B, Macy's, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor. If you want cheaper stuff, JC Penney, Sears and Target have some cute things and their stuff is always on sale. You have to try it on though because their sizes can be a little wonky. And yes I do buy some clothes from Walmart, go ahead and throw your rotten tomatoes at me, I don't care. They have some cute things, and right now it's about the only place I can afford new clothes. I've been on an anti-clothes-shopping-for-me kick lately, but I still take my mom, my aunts and my friends and help them pick out stuff. And, Hunhee, we're practically neighbors, so hit me up if you ever want to go shopping around Novi. I'm good at matching colors, guessing sizes and accessorizing.
