I have been single for so long that they don't even ask how many people are with me at restaurants anymore...the just seat me on a folding chair in the storage room to keep me away from all of the happy couples...the good news is that I don't have to deal with loud children!

Yeah, not only am I single but they just changed a bunch of the dorms around and made the newest, cleanest, and best ones for couples only because I guess that there are more couples up here than ever...WTF?!?! How about they buy a house or rent one?

I have a sneaky suspicion that I will be single until I finish residency. Unfortunately, I also suspect the options that will come out of the woodwork at that time will be highly suspect to being (and I apologize for this broad generalization, but seen it happen time and time again,) leaches and trophies. Rather than deal and be supportive during the worst time of training/career when I need to have someone to confide in the most, the options would wait until they see me as a final product, then grab everything they can. These type of toxic people I would like to avoid at all costs.

I would like someone to make me feel...human when the training I will go through is very de-humanizing. To remind me that there is more than just work and sleep. Someone who would make me want to come home to see than volunteer to stay longer, just to avoid the tomb-like quiet of my place. Someone who would want to make me NOT volunteer for all holiday calls for lack of anything better to do during those times.

For someone like that, I would bend as much as I can to make sure I could reciprocate the same things I ask of her as she endeavors on her goals. The training until finish has some flexibility that I would take advantage of to be there for her.

You make a good point about the leaches. I always thought the same thing if I suddenly came into a large quantity of money. Pretty sad really.

Therefore, we will have to make a community effort to get you noticed by a firm but sincere and appreciative lady before you finish your residency.
