Basically a gift (usually money or in some cultures livestock, etc.) used to sweeten the deal of marrying the person it is attached to.

I also am currently single. I divorced about two years ago, and I've had a few "interesting relationships" since. it seem that I keep managing to hook up with girls that can't commit. Not "won't" but specifically "can't" because they haven't ended their prior relationship (what would Freud say about that?). I refuse to be someones attention giver, or on the side guy. I actually let myself fall in love with someone that had a fiancé, she said that she loved me, but how could we ever make that work? -shakes head- no I don't want to be single but it appears that's the way it has to be for now.
