1. I'm not a Christian, but I do believe in God and I share some of their beliefs. Though, I honest;y don't remember spewing their dogma any more than I spew Greek philosophy or Buddhist dogma.

2. I'm not God, I am allowed my human imperfections.

Pardon my misunderstanding...

People Lie. It's the Truth. Sometimes, a lie will save your life and truth will get you stuffed into an oven. You can't have Truth unless you also have Lies.

I'm with Munin on all this.

Let's say you and 9 other people all go out to eat. You're not too hungry and decide to get water (free), a salad ($3.99), and since you need some protein you add chicken to that ($1.99). So, after tip and tax, your amount should come to around $7.50.

Another one in the group is just there for socialization so they just get water (free). Everyone else is starving and they consume a lot of food costing various amounts but for sake of simplicity, let's just say $15. So ...

8 X $15 = $120

+ your $7.50 = $127.50

/ 10 people = $12.75 each

Now, should you follow socialism and pay $12.75 because that's the average consumption, or follow capitalism and pay $7.50 because that's your consumption? What about the person that just had water? Should he or she pay $12.75 or nothing?

Now, what if the person who just got water ended up nibbling on food from every one else's plate all night. Should he or she still pay nothing since all he or she got was water, or help cover the bill because he or she helped eat the food?

See where I'm going with all this?

You sir are unequivocally WRONG...

You say EVERYBODY... but don't speak for ME...

..Some people LIE... some people don't... if you do not believe me, tough shit bro... I DON'T LIE...

To back me up... look up some words of Holocaust survivors...

I can remember clearly the Guilt ridden reports of Jews who lied and got away with it...

Guilty about the fates of their Truth telling Brethren...

(There is no rule against lying in TORA... instead Truth telling is a mitzvah.)

AND..

Remember... what did the Philosophers tell us about ABSOLUTE STATEMENTS....

Really. I've never met someone so perfect before.

How are you feeling today?

I feel GREAT! How are you?

Never said I was 'perfect'... I said I don't LIE...

The action of lying must be remembered, repeted, and covered up...

To much unnecessary work...

I've had a much better life since I stopped...

Great? Not tired or sleepy? No old wounds bothering you? Didn't sleep wrong and have a mild back ache? hay fever acting up mildly? Not miffed that I question your word?

So Miffed, Not Great. Nope, you never lie, not even little white lies.

Don't preach to me about absolutes... in the same conversation where you say "I NEVER lie."

No problem phee. I've made my point.

Don't go thinking someone can't be 'miffed' and be GREAT at the same time..

.. that would be underestimating the 'split-minded'...

..I don't lie... your projecting now...

(knowingly)(<--edit to add word)

Sorry that I miss qouted. I retract my qoute where I injected the implied "never"

not to be a PIA, but when somebody says "i don't lie", it's an obviously implied "i never lie" unless you state "i *try to* never lie, which rev did not.

semantics, but a valid distinction...

This is a PM I just sent...

and I have to disagree with you this time Torn...

once again, you twist semantics to YOUR OWN ENDS...if I had meant it I would have stated "I never LIE"

but I try NOT to talk like that...

for your knowledge...I READ DICTIONARYS... FOR FUN.

ok, let's look at the phrase "i don't lie"...

what does it mean? it's a difinitive statement, which means that it never happens - "i *don't*"... it means there is no room for argument, it doesn't happen. if that's true, it's the same as sayign "i never lie". this has nothing to do with the past, and whether or not you've lied before.

"i don't lie" = "i never lie"

"i never lie" does not equal "i've never lied".

"i don't lie" does not equal "i try to never lie"

"i don't lie" does not equal "i try to not lie"

as i said before, it is a difinitive statement - i. do. not. lie.

no equivocation.

am i missing something?

WOW, this is like a semantical hell in here.....

I can speak on behalf of Rev.....He is the most honest person I have ever known.

He is honest at ALL times, even if it is impolite to do so.

Brutally honest, even.

i'm not making any claim to whether he is or isn't, i'm just offering my view on the semantics of the statement, since it appeared to be creatign some friction earlier in this post...

and yes, i will shut up now - please carry on!

So...

You don't lie... but you can not say that with absolute certainty?

So ok... How fo you handle it when a lie would be the best corse of action... like...

"Do these pants make my ass look fat?"

Do you go with the safe white lie and say..

"No, they look great!" or some other little untruth that does not hurt someone's feelings for no reason.

or do you tell the truth..

"No, the fact that you have a fat ass is what makes your ass look fat."

That responce would be rude and in my opinion uncouth...

I would say something more along the lines of:

" Honey, I don't know if you really wanna' wear THOSE pants out; at least not without this sweater."

If a white lie is 'safe', I live DANGEROUSLY...

I do not balk at losing a friend to stay an Honest Person...

I can respect that. Forgive me if I am in utter disbelief though. I have met other people who made the claim that they do not lie... and all of them turned out to be telling the biggest lie to themselves.

Yeah... but they are not Reverend Reverence...

..lets just agree that it CAN be a detriment occasionally...

...but I believe we are all martyrs and we all choose the way we suffer...

...I made a decision long ago and I will not be moved...

Unfortunately people like to lie more than be truthful,

also there is a difference between a WHITE LIE and a

MALICIOUS LIE,(the fuck you over lie that is)

whats the first thing your going to do/say when a cop pulls you over

or stops you while walking and your a little buzzed.thats where a lie might come in handy.

and yes you can get in trouble walking drunk as well,I did quite a long time ago, probation and fines, nough said.
