Most parts of the world have been paying close to $10 a gallon for many years.

We only really notice it now cause ours is going up.

One of the many reasons Europe has always loved small cars.

I remember filling my tank for under $10 from empty back in the $0.75 a gallon days.

Was pissed when it reached a dollar.

Lots of electric car dealers in Portland, maybe I should get one for around town stuff.

Uhmmm...NEWS FLASH!

Europe has been paying those prices since about the 1980's or even before.

How is this news? I'm confused. I literally knew about this in elementary school!

I mean...did Americans think that Europians don't drive cars just to be chic? Ever notice how small a VW Bug is? Ever wonder why they have the most efficient mass transit anywhere outside of Japan?

Think about it for a second.

Hell, Saint Germain, when he was fresh over here on his visit from Germany said something along the lines of "wow, and I was so surprised at how cheap gas is over here". Which made the passengers of my car go "WTF?!" and I just laughed because I already knew how expensive petrol is over in Europe.

I have a friend in Australia and he complains about their high gas prices all the time. I'm not sure how much they pay, but he says it's a lot more than USA. :/

In Hong Kong it's $50/gallon or more.

when i was over i had a strange urge to head over to ann arbor, phee gave the ride on condition i put the gas in, i was happy to fill the tank.

atm i'm paying £1.20 per litre (or was until my car got mangled).

Europe likes small cars due to denser population. a cross country drive is a day, maybe 2. not weeks, and the roads are not straight (rayne found a road with a "kink" in it and declared that as fun, i couldnt help but wonder what she'd think of the roads by me) roads are narower here, and have actual corners and bends :p then theres the parking issue in metropolitan areas. unlike the area you have there where you have masses of land per property in suburban areas, we're not so well off here. I'm living on a double plot and still dont have half the yard space a fair few properties have (infact we had to convert a lot of the land to dedicated parking for 3 cars.
