hey hey!

andrea... oops... I mean Gothic Raven Goddess (teehee) posted about her precious new baby. We are getting a white DEVON rex. they are also hyper-allergenci as are the peterbalds. Peterbalds are just like the sphinx cats (who actually arent hairless), they are hairless... but its a recessive trait so only one or two kittens in a litter show up hairless.

We have been looking for a Cornish rex to rescue for about a year now. ever since our cat, JavaJoe, got cancer. hes still still hanging in there, but it wont be long. My mom wants to take him too, so I might let her. But I met a lady online who does the hypo perterbalds, dossows and donskoys... all hairless cats. we were looking for something hypo because of Jeff's severe allergies and asthma. Well, last night she wrote me and a cattery elsewhere in the country has to get rid of some of their cats in a hurry. she is shipping us anything we want for free. (NOTE! LOOKING FOR MORE HOMES TOO! want one???). she has two Devon Rex which are BEAUTIFUL! see the pics? Devon's usually have curly hair, but cornish sometimes do too. but they mostly have big funny ears and alien faces :) sooooo cute!!!

Okay... need help with names!!! I seem to like to name them after food for some reason. Jeff names our oldest pig Muta and our youngest Vinnie... both afte real names. The Great Muta is a wrestler in Japan lol. I named our sick cat "JavaJoe" and our middle pig is "Pickle". I was thinking of naming the new kitties after coffee and tea stuff too. like Java is. I was thinking Sugar for the white one and Chai for the red one.

Can anyone think of another food or coffee house drink for the cats??? somethign white and something red. mashmallow? lol I think Ive heard sugar before. but not chai! we dont drink alchohol, so none of those names. and they are both girls.

Any suggestions? anyone? com'on people! -teehee

Are you sure those are Devon Rex's ? They look more like Cornish Rex  (because the devon rex usually has a more wider and round head, and does not have the Marcel waves as their coat, their ears are smaller ). I'm not trying to aggravate or sound like a smart @$$, but I don't want to get ripped off by getting something it's not.

This what a Devon Rex should look like..

And to me they look like this..

At any rate they are adorable Especially the Red one ^_^.

They are devon rex. purebred. I actually did the research first and was talking to people on the rex-friends yahoo group that is part of the main rex rescue group in the US. they had many pictures from people who have them, and some Devons have a waivey coat too. and some of the devons I've seen also have the big ears. I'll check againt o be sure, because she originally said Devon and then we have a conversation obout cornish rex. if they ARE cornish, thats better. they are even lower allergy than the devons, and I originally wanted a cornish. I dont care either way. I am helping a good deed by rescuing them and they are exactly what I wanted. altho I really like the blue-grey coat of a cornish lol but the red one is sooo pretty!!! and I hear the white one LOVES to play and is very cuddly :)

but I'll ask her again just so I know. but she originally said Devon Rex. they are free... its not like Im not going to get what Im supposed to lol. free purebreed cats, free spaying and free shipping. because she ended up loving her cats so much that she kept too many and its more then the law allows for a cattery. so if she doenst get good homes for them shes screwed.

YOU WERE RIGHT!!!! they are CORNISH rex!!! I guess my friend was trying to talk to so many people about so many diff cats she said the wrong breed. and then she just kept saying REX instead. I think Ive exchanged about 30 or more emails with her in the last day and a half lol. We have a friend who is getting the calico DEVON rex. but shes jealous because she wanted a white rex like mine :) sorry I debated with you! YOU WERE RIGHT! happy now? -teehee

Still looking for names too

what about cumquat? lol of course it would be Quat for short, not cummy lol its not the right color, they are more yellow than orange, but I think its a cute name :)

what about some cute japaneese names??? like Makiko?

I like cutsie names that are still exotic or fun. but not common. if the red kitty was a boy he'd be rubios... after the red tea lol

what about some mythology names?

I was thinking of naming a human daughter Hope... but we might not be able to have kids. what about hope and faith??? or what are clever names for angel and devil??? since one is red and one is white? female names.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS IN ADVANCE

Maybe I see too many purebreds that I'm become so judgmental on what they should look like lol. We have a Cornish Rex breeder we work with and she's retiring her queen soon. Her name is Starina and she's beautiful. If you know anyone that wants one let me know. I think they are only going to ask for the spay cost which $70 ...

no one that I can think of at this time. what do you do for a living that you work with people with alot of purebreed cats? are you in veterinary??? are you hiring kennel help? LOL

The Japanese gave each shade of red its own elegant name in the old days. Shuiro (vermilion), akaneiro (madder red), enji (dark red), karakurenai (crimson) and hiiro (scarlet) are among of them.

Yes sorry I couldn't help but point out that they looked like Cornish .. I have one myself his name is Kiba (it means white fang in Japanese, he is white with blue spots). He was going to be euthanised because he had a massive heart murmur, so I took him. He has to make med's, but he doesn't know anything is wrong with him.

I do work at a Veterinary clinic in Dearborn, we do see CATS ONLY no DOGS. The kitties like it better. Unfortunately we are not hiring at the moment(we are a very small clinic).

I'm very close friends with one of the Cornish Rex breeders, they produce very lovely kitties, their current kitty Hairyette is on her way to be a grand champion.

I think Japanese names suit the Rex breed well.

Some names that you might like ...

Koi

Shiro-white

Neko-Cat

Kawaii- cute

Da-rin- Darling

niiro, gosai, ru-, aka, reddo, akai, ni- means red

takanami- high waves (due to their marcell waves)

Good luck ^_^

They are not thin at all. Actually they are supposed to be naturally thin (muscular) lean body style. I haven't seen one yet with a pot belly ^_^

Actually, the ones she is getting are Cornish Rex's (she says that farther down)..... from what i know, the lady does have other breed as well, and needs to adopt them out.

I like the breeds, as well... but i love the sphinx's and the peterbalds, as well

Actually, I was warned the red kitty is going to be prone to plumpness. she already is a tad heavey Im told and when she gets spayed will be more so. But we have a fat pig who is on a diet lol so it wont be hard to keep her from getting pleasantly plump lol.

SOMETHING NOTEWORTHY: Muta, our fat potbellied pig??? He got to go to the vet today. HE LOST 30lbs!!!!! WOOHOO MUTA!!! another 30 to go and he'll be one healthy handsome piggy :) the vet was telling him how handsome he looked and he was so happy and proud lol. its funny how much they actually understand :)

Thanks Raven! I like ALOT of those! I was thinking of naming them Hope and Faith but there are alot of words on your link that are very similar words. I think sun and moon would be cool, since one is silvery and one is firey looking :) I'll talk to Jeff about them. I SUPPOSE I oughta consult the hubby lol not hat I had a choise when he named Muta... after his fave Japanes pro wrestler, "THE GREAT MUTA" which we later found means waste... like poop LMAO!!! "the great waste" teehee.

I have a white Devon Rex mix, Finn MacCuil, whom I adopted from a rescue-- and I absolutely LOVE him!!! They are truly my very favorite breed of cat, I will never own any other breed after getting to know him!

My Finny came from that big raid in Eastpointe a few years back; a woman was keeping about a hundred cats and dogs in her house.

He is so full of mischief and fun. I call him my 'Moon Monkey', because he looks and acts like what I would imagine a moon monkey to be like.

Does she have any more Devons??? I would gladly adopt another one, as long as it's a full-grown cat. I don't have time at the moment for a kitten.

A`ctually, YES! she has a deveon left!!! if you get back to me in time I can have her get you one. they are being spayed and neutered on wed and shipping on friday and ready to pikc up friday night in sterling hts. this is free for you. even the fixing and shipping. the lady was getting in trouble with a breeding association becaused she loved her cats so much she wasnt selling enouhg of them, just keeping them and letting them run around her house. so she has to get rid of a bunch befor she gets investigated. but I'll need to know tonight or tomorrow. and then I dont knwo. I knwo our friend who is importning them already has the shipping booked for our cats. so let me know ASAP! I will message you on here so you can email me directly. THANKS!

Naw, that's just the breed, isn't that odd?

Those are the same kind of kittehs as Mr. Bigglesworth in Austin Powers, I think. He was either a Devon or Cornish Rex, haven't seen any of those movies in awhile. I'm sure of it, but not sure which one exactly.

No, Mr Bigglesworth was one of the sphinx breeds. I think he was a donskow. Rex's have curly hair and some have very fine hair, but they arent bald. and when it comes to donskows not ALL of them are bald. none of the sphinx produce ALL naked kittens. Its a recessive trait that only shows up in 1 or 2 kittens in the litter. thats why they are so rare. but any of the other kittens can produce a naked kitten. and actually, most of the kittens are born with SOME sort of hair, and lose it when they are about a yard old.

The friend of mine that is importing our cats for us actually breeds the hairless cats. Thats how I met her. I met her on a cat site when I was asking about rex and she had some rex and was talking to me a bout them Vs the hairless cats. not all hairless cats are hypo-allergenic either. youre actually allergic to thier saliva. but for some reason the type of coat they have on certain cats also pertains to thier allergy-proness. I guess that Cornish Rex are one of the LOWEST allerg cat there is. other than the lab kittens they are producing now that are going for 6k each and backed up to 2012 lol thats ust WRONG!!!

okay... Im tired. going to stop babbling :) night all!
