TheOsakaKoneko Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hi everyone! I just moved to Detroit - or rather, moved back, after living in Japan for 4 years. I'm dying to get involved in the scene around here - I'm missing it back in Osaka already! I love all sorts of events, especially clubs and club-like events with stage shows mixed in. I'm primarily a huge New Wave fan, but I like all sorts of stuff. Good to meet you and yoroshiku! (Though I know no one ever reads intro posts!)

I was telling them how my AF buddy's stationed there right now. Huh...I don't think so but maybe. Where was it? I haven't been to any events yet, but I do randomly talk to people a lot in random stores and walking around the street - I tend to stand out like a sore thumb so I get a lot of random comments from passersby. Was the person you talked to wearing obnoxiously frilly clothing? ^^
Angel of Death Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hello and welcome to DGN. Pull up a chair and chat with us a bit. Don't worry we only bite when asked.

TheOsakaKoneko Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Nope, it was at CC or Necto. Hope to see ya around Damn. Oh well. But actually if they really were from Osaka and into the goth stuff there, I probably know them - it's not that big of a crowd there. Hopefully I'll run into them at CC sometime soon. I'm hoping against hope to get over there tomorrow, though it depends on if I can find a way over. I just got back so I don't have a car yet. And all my old friends are broke and never go anymore. D:
Msterbeau Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hi and welcome. I'm going to be asking you many questions about Japan in the next couple months. I'm going there for work for a few months in the Fall. I'll be in Toyota City... :-)

Msterbeau Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Where's Toyota-shi? I know I could google it but I am lazy. What sends you to Japan? I'll be there for work, doing training. Toyota City is located fairly close to Nagoya, maybe 30 minutes south and east. Interestingly, it's a sister city to Detroit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota,_Aichi
Msterbeau Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Oooh!! Just looked at your MySpace page.... I have many questions about your photos!
Troy Spiral (13) Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Hiya How Did You Find DGN? Google search for "detroit goth" haha I like it. Took forever (in the earlier years of DGN) to get placed properly (that is number 1) on the search engines. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. Hopefully we can trick... i mean talk, you into sticking around and throwing your 2 cents in on a few topics. *points all around* I'm usually at city club every week, but i think i need a break due to health reasons (mostly) tonight. Welcome to the place, -Troy
Destroit Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 OMFG...Japan?!? STFU GTFO...I am SO jealous... That's in my top three places I wanna go to sometime in life (Japan, Germany, and well...obviously Chernobyl). And I <3 the goth lolita fashion...so now that you've joined there's two goth lolitas on the board (I like to mix it up though, if I were to classify myself I'm mostly goth cyber-industrial lolita...or some crazy ass mix). Soooo welcome
TheOsakaKoneko Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Oooh!! Just looked at your MySpace page.... I have many questions about your photos! That's awesome. I am very jealous. I am just entering the job market now, since I just got back, and my ideal job would be with a company that does business both here and in Japan and that would send me to Japan on business every once in a while. Since my main skill is Japanese, that also seems like the best kind of job, you know? haha If you don't mind me asking, what field are you in? The only thing I've been able to find so far with a few web searches is the automotive industry (no real surprise there, being Detroit, but still, not my ideal industry perhaps, since atm I know notsomuch about cars, besides how to drive them). As for the photos, ask away! But now if you see me at CC or elsewhere, you'll be able to recognize me!

Soooo welcome Awesome, just two though? I guess that's not too surprising - after all, most lolitas don't want to be called goth, and most goths don't want to associate them either. I'm honestly more lolita than goth, but please don't kick me out! hahaha I got into goth through lolita, or rather, well...kinda like that anyway. So I'm a very new goth. I know no other goths who got started in their early mid twenties. But nonetheless. And I usually mix it up too, usually some weird ass 'my version' of lolita...but when I go to the club I tend to stray further away from straight lolita. Do you hang out at CC?

Our company has been expanding so depending on your other skills (Besides Japanese) you may find employment there. I'll ask about photos via PM when I have a moment.
