CandyQuackenbush Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 My friend's Mom who lives in Walled Lake got hit yesterday. Her house was pretty much right where the tornado's touched down. She now has no power, only has one way to get out of her house, and she doesn't even know how much damage is done to her house because she's affraid of going back there without someone. *she lives alone* I know that we are under a T-Storm watch here in Westland.
creatureofthenyte Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I hope you all stay safe out there I've been watching storm coverage on tv, pretty crazy to see live pictures of twisters.
freydis Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 enjoy. we had even worse weather craziness over the weekend--- mass flooding, torrential rain, etc. it made saturday a BUSY day at work.....
tanuki1985 Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 We lost our power at about 8:30 last night. I went to bed at about 10:30 (super early for me), and by the time I woke up at 6:45 am, it was back on.
jynxxxedangel Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I live in Wixom, and we had no electricity from about 5 pm Sunday night, until about 4 am this morning (Tueday)! Those sorts of strong storms are nothing new to me! Since I have lived in the Wolverine Lake/Wixom area, I have seen more wild thunderstorms than I have ever seen in my entire life (I have photographed many of them, too).. Our quaint suburban skies seem to give birth to monsters. The attached photo is from the last big storm we had here in early April. I thought for sure I was going to witness a funnel cloud's genesis! Those little 'fractals' (that's what they resemble to me) sprouting off the bottoms of the clouds kept reaching lower and lower and lower, almost touching the rooftops! It was really bizarre. Almost everyone who was home was out on their porch; watching it all take place, ooohing and ahhhing. The result of these weird clouds was a deluge of pea-sized hail, about two minutes after this photo was taken. I got some video too, up until the hail broke. This was one of those days I REALLY didn't like living in a trailer.
Rayne Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I live in Wixom, and we had no electricity from about 5 pm Saturday night, until about 4 am this morning (Monday)! My parents live in New Hudson. They were running off their generator until this morning. My ex lives in Waterford. They were completely out of power until last night. I was driving home and got into Milan on US-23 on Sunday when a nasty one hit ... I was crawling on the freeway because I couldn't see, with trees flying all around me. I encountered trees down across the road and all kinds of nasty-ness the rest of the way home to Ypsilanti. Luckily, we had no power issues here.
