Ok so here she (thing 1) sits. Its fucking ALMOST noon. I had to have thing 2 get her Oakland co paper yesturday even though she didn't work till 2pm because she said she didn't have time to go herself...tis to find job in Oakland co so I can have her move, and I found her a sweeet ass deal on a place. She is off college for the summer, and is working 1 day a week. Its pissing me off.

K get this peeps...I mean I love the man but he spoils them rotten...

gives her money for food and toiletries still...

100 a week. Thing 2 has already found employment in Oakland co

When they were job hunting together, thing 2 did all the driving in HER car and paid for gas as did I. Thing 1 hardly pitched in.

So, we wonder why its harder for her to find work...she does come across...well...bimbo. Its not that she is not smart or a hard worker, she is aloof and shy.

And very pretty.

so we do the mock interview with thing 2 (who makes time for it) because K is a manager and hires people and the tips WORKED she got hired.

Now we have been on thing 1 to do this for 2 weeks...sorry, dad is busy so she had to kinda make time for it when he is here.

She was too busy partying last week...hell we all had to get up early she keeps us awake late at night coming in then she wants to cook...and eat...and shower....

and watch tv...at like 3am just as me the insomniac is finally falling asleep.

Its pissing me off!!!

I just...want her OUT hell we are paying for college and she is almost 20

oh and.........GET OFF MY LAWN YA BRAT!!!

She does do dishes and half the laundry but I have to threaten to make her homeless to get her to do it...honestly threaten to change the locks. She is that bad about it.

and she skips days and days and lets laundry pile up so we all pitch in and its not fair...

me and thing 2 did all the gardening....

and house cleaning

and shopping.

And thing 1 makes messes...drops crumbs and just....grrr you should see her room there is a path to the bed

God I was out and in beauty school by her age working 8-12 hours a day...she is still blowdrying her hair.

I am going to...dunno yet...but it won't be pretty.

Tell K that you're going to withhold the monies from him if he keeps holding her back. She needs to have motivation. Money makes it easier to get out there and party with friends or hang out late.

Or, I can tote her around with me. She'll be singing goofy songs while walking through the mall. Doing Urkel impressions in Meijer while looking for cheese. I just use the embarrassment technique- eventually they laugh their asses off and realize that noone cares if they look or act funny.

Cut off her money. Literally. Then see what happens.

If she gets really bad then kick her out. If you don't let her know you're for serious then she'll keep walking all over you.

It's kinda like how parents will tell screaming kids in a public place: "if you don't cut that out in three seconds, we're leaving" but then when their kid doesn't cut it out....they don't follow through and leave. Actions like that teach the child that not only is mom not serious about punishment and will let everything slide...but also that if the kid screams loud enough eventually they'll get their way. Giving your daughter money yet threatening her at the same time is that same kind of negative conditioning: it shows you're not serious.

So you need to literally put your money where your mouth is and show her who wears the pants in the family, and it's NOT her. She's 20, at the point living at mommy's is a priveledge, not a right, and she's definately burning down her bridges. So give her a taste of reality, betcha she won't last a week.

Its weird but K and I are finding a bit of sexism in ourselves. We had no prob kicking out our boy when he was of age but the girls...you know?

Thing 2 is doing great hell she just got a good job and is making more than me!

But thing 1...I just didn't feel like yelling today.

She applied for ONE job online and didn't leave to go fill out apps in person until 3pm

I guess I am soft cause I remember how hard it was at that age...I don't want them to go through what I went through.

If I kicked her out she might turn to stripping or worse I fear...

She seems to think its enough to not do drugs and have sex but I told her sex well your damn near 20 its almost weird NOT to be at this age...and the drugs...kid, your doing YOURSELF a favor not getting mixed up in that crap...not me.

I said you can't stay out partying all night and sleep all day and she says but I don't party and I was like running around in the park until dawn is partying in a way...whatever your doing STOP WAKING ME UP!!!

Oh and this. Everytime she enters or leaves a room she slams the door shut.
