Work out techniques

My technique lately has been a cardio warm up to start ( bike, jog, or glider). Then I do the indoor rower to work back and arms. Then I do weight lifting variations, either free weights or weight machine. In my apartment if I am not to drained I do push ups and crunches. Usually I have to take a break after both cardio exercises to cool down. I'm hoping I'll get to the point I'll be fit enough to do the Spartan work out, if anyone has tried that work out that is a tough one. I've been working out Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays but that will have to change due to my job.

i also do rajayogic exercises to get the flexibility every other day (i alternate between the two), each day has balance and footwork exercises, and cardio vascular on top.

Upon waking, I immediately begin my crunches, before I even get out of bed. I sleep Japanese-style, so my bed doubles as a nice exercise mat.

After about 300 reps of crunches, I do a few ballet stretches. Then I do about 30 or 40 Army push-ups (on the floor, not the bed).

Then, I go into my leg lifts-- 4 sets of 50.

That's about it.

I hike at least 5 miles a week, as well, at a full dog-trot.

I've lost 70 lbs playing Dance Dance Revolution.

I laugh in the faces of anyone stupid enough to throw away money on a gym membership each month, unless it's for weight training.

I burn around 1,300 calories a day playing DDR and I am 8 step (it goes from 1-10 on a scale of difficulty) on heavy mode. That is skill worthy of serious money winning tournaments/competitions, and also DDR fame and glory.

Also, I've opened up a "DDR dojo" in my house and in order for my students (I have four, one is doing so well he's dropped 25 lbs in 2 months just playing and is already 5 step) to use the facilties, much like a Japanese martial arts dojo, they must call me sensei, clean my house, and supply me beer.

SO...with all those fringe benefits, I'd like to take moment to laugh at people who jog. You could be SO much more productive than that!

Buying Chernobyl beer is more productive to your health than jogging

I'm glad my apartment complex has an exercise room and I don't have to pay for a gym.

When my ex and I were still dating we saw "300" when it came out in the theaters. Afterwards we found videos on YouTube showing their training program. My ex thought that looked like the best time ever and so wanted to do that. Then again, she's a fitness fanatic who dropped 70 pounds to gain a sleek sexy body and enjoys working out to keep fit and trim.

My workout routine is kettlebells twice a week though I'm hoping to up that to three soon (so hard when a full time job and full time grad school consumes my life) and I'd like to go to the rock climbing gym at least once a month. It's been a while since I've done that. Oh, and I sword fight (stage combat) every Tuesday evening and that can get to be a pretty rigorous workout. Plus whip cracking, juggling, and playing the drums is more of a workout than one might think as well.

i just wish the army knew this.. i can do anything on beer..

hell come to think of it.. the marines didn't give a shit if i drank.. the army on the other hand... i got this goody two shoes "I don't drink and I'm so much better than drinkers, bla bla bla drinking is pointless, anyone who drinks has issues"

yes i have issues... shit tons.. but that's not the reason why i drink dammit. Nor is it the reason why I have issues.

My rule of thumb is generally not "if you drink you have problems" with my circle of friends it's more like "if you do crack, heroin, or meth, I'll be you friend but won't let you in my house because you have problems and I like my shit to stay where I left it".

So there's my philosophy on substances. Where I come from alcohol/weed are not indicators of substances, it's the indicator that it's 5pm.

Lol, yeah im around 265ish from 290ish now. And I'm on 6 step and breaking into 7 step. It wasn't just playing, though. A combination of a quitting pop, not eating snacks, and throwing fruits and veggies into my diet + a healthy dose of DDR.

I prefer doing body weight exercises personally. Squats, one arm pushups, that kinda thing. I like weight lifting, but I don't feel that paying for a gym membership is really worth it. I used to have a weight bench, but had to get rid of it due to lack of room.

Personally, I've always despised jogging.

I also practice a form of chi kung which is quite difficult as well.
