Homicidalheathen Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 in your hood....do you report it? That was a shot gun blast.
Destroit Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 In Clinton Twp...? Naw...as you know it's turning into Detroit and quick.
Homicidalheathen Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 there is always someone shooting on the other side of rainbow elementary and its pissing me off, bullets TRAVEL and kids play there
Destroit Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 You should report it then. The police may be able to find shotgun shells or bullet casings and match it up with a gun in the neighborhood. Even if they can't, at least they'll know to look out for that and will send patrol cars to the area to drive around there every so often and check. Like, I dunno if you know where this is but I live in Townhouse Plaza at 15 & Kelly (right by that 7-11 and Speedway there) and there's been a slew of break-ins and vandalisms lately. Since we don't take kindly to that in our parts we reported it several times and now they send an officer though at least once an hour to check out the whole townhouse sub to make sure nothing suspicious is going on. We also formed a neighborhood watch committee which I may want to join up with. It'll make me look better as a resident and my neighbors might stop hiding their kids from me thinking that I worship Satan. It entails walking around the street at night with a small group of people and a flashlight just keeping an eye out for odd activity. Also, not only do bullets travel, but when shot straight up into the air they have a tendency to come down eventually. Now...if a penny thrown off the top of the Empire State Building can kill someone...just think of what that could do. You need to report it, ASAP!
Oh_My_Goth Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 People are douche bags.....  I would report it, especially if you are near a school.....
headlessgoth Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 i grew up and have lived in the roughest and scariest hoods in detroit so gun shots are common to me
ttogreh Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Ugh... Forgive me, all of you. Actually, a penny can't kill you if dropped off of the Empire State building. It'll give you a hell of a head ache, though. A bullet shot STRAIGHT up, ninety degrees... won't kill you when it comes back down. A bullet shot 89 degrees and less will maintain columnar velocity and will fucking kill you dead if you are underneath it when it lands. Yeah. I am sincerely sorry.

There was actually much talk about this a few months ago on a gun forum I'm on.
Hellion Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Cheap ass low income apt complexes being built in nice neighborhoods always brings in trash with felony records.
LadyKay Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 in your hood....do you report it?That was a shot gun blast. Around here that means the ground hogs are in the garden again.
TygerLili Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hehe! Yeah, where I grew up it meant the geese were on someone's lawn. Now that I think of it, if I am indoors I don't really react if I hear what sounds like a gunshot. Maybe that's why.
n0Mad Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 If you hear it in my neighborhood, it's probably me in my backyard practicing with my whips.
pomba gira Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I grew up in Detroit so I barely notice unless it's like, right next door. So it doesn't even occur to me to report it... altho up here the po pos would likely actually respond. Now, if I hear screaming or some kind of obvious altercation going on, that's a different story. Or if I hear an obvious gunfight, that I would definitely report. But just a single gun firing, nah. And... AFA the penny thing... for the penny to do any serious damage there would have to be absolutely no wind (which does not happen around tall buildings) and the penny would have to not tumble as it fell. This was one of the pressing questions addressed by Cecil Adams in his highly entertaining & enlightening "Straight Dope" column (books, website, etc...).
Goth Brooks Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Just shoot a few rounds in the direction you hear the shots coming from.

Raev Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I don't even notice shots fired. Grew up in one of Detroits industrial slums, I stopped noticing shots years ago.
