Guest greyhalo Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I just started "Breaking Dawn" today. I'm the Teen Services Librarian at the public library where I work, so I have to keep up with the latest teen literature. I'll admit that I do really like the "Twilight" series though. I held a book group meeting for "Twilight" a couple of years ago, and it went over really well. It's nice to see so many teens get excited about reading. Of course there are a lot of girls I know who love the series, but I also run into boys who like it as well. Not to mention moms... Stephenie Meyer does an excellent job of keeping up the romantic tension and suspense in her novels, yet they're clean. She's a Mormon and doesn't write explicitly about sex, so I don't have to feel embarassed recommending her books to 12 year-olds.
freydis Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 !!!! I got it! I'm going to start back at the beginning, though, with Twilight. Re-reads will make it last longer. I also have to finish the book I am in the middle of.....discipline is the name of the game.
TitsMcGee Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Okay I've just spent the last 31 hours reading the first two books...I get it now, and am rather depressed.
Brian4wheels Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 I was thinking of picking this series up since I love to read and love vampire fiction but was told it was too girlie. Whats everyone else's take?

TitsMcGee Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 It's definately more a love story. There's action too
Homicidalheathen Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 i am borrowing my handicapper ladies copy soon... glad witches and vampires are mainstream entertainment for kiddies these days oh yes there is justice and good taste left in theh world
GothicRavenGoddess (3) Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 well, I can honestly say that when I read a series, i really get down to it... when I got the first 4 books of the dark tower series (I no longer have them), i read them all in a week... yes, that's 7 days, for 4 books... so i have a feeling that I am going to breeze through this series as well.. and I love books in general..... no matter the story, its my crack. lol I read earlier in this thread that maybe we should start a book club, to save on costs.. i think that's a great idea!!! (seing how I will be borrowing the series from TitsMcGee... lol) and then we all can come in here and talk about the series, and what might happen nex and all that good stuff. lol and that would also be good for other books as well.
