i was looking through "my controls" just to see things on there since i don't normally do that and i looked at my "blocked list" not expecting to see anyone there and i had a lot of people on there!

how would that have happened?? they are not even people i would want to block and are not even people who i message with. i did not do this. not even accidentally.

i once had an issue where i thought someone had my password... then i changed it... and could that have been the issue? (someone accessing my account and doing that) or was it some sort of mistake?

again, they are definately people i would NOT have added to this list.

except:

"ohster" was on there and i totally would have added him ;)

dood, something's up with this - i just went to check my own, out of curiosity, and for some reason unknown to me, brenda starr was on my blocked list! i've just now removed her, but wtf!? i never would block bren!!

I checked mine and for some odd reason Rayne was under my blocked list for PM's. I have never blocked anyone.

The ability to block people is meant to be easy to get to, unfortunately its also easy to accidentally block them.

The "block" button is on every PM you get (the title-sender part) and thus it makes it really easy to accidentally click the [ Block] link rather than the actual user name under "sender" in the PM. Have a look in your inbox and see what i mean.

I have several test accounts, checked them all, there aren't any unusual blocked people on them currently. But, I did accidentally have a few people blocked back in the day before i realized how easy it is to accidentally click the wrong link and became more careful about it.

Also "send message" and "add user to block list" are fairly close together if you go into a users profile and click Options which if we are a bit click-happy or just not fully paying attention is easy to add to your block list.

Its a "problem" that occasionally pops up on the IPS admin forums but ease of use and "discover-ability" of the function seems to always win out over making it a more hard to get at feature.

Not the perfect system that's for sure, but then again nothing really ever is. The location of the block/ignore functions has been changed around at least 3 times over the various versions of IPB that we have had, always due to various lines of reasoning.

the problem for me is:

the people there were on my block list are people i have NEVER sent a PM to and who have also NEVER sent me a message. they were also people who's profiles i don't even ever look at...

honestly the only person on there that should have been on there was ohster. :p if i didn't put him there i was glad he ended up there ;)

you don't know about the ohster? well, you are lucky. but i am not sure how you avoided that one. someone can bring that one up or show you if they want... i really don't want to dig around looking for that guy. :rolleyes: uck.

then i made the mistake of clicking on his website...

I sorta feel bad for someone who looks that bad... no matter how full of themselves they are...

It just makes me want to dunk his face in acid... it would most deffinitely help his looks.

I know "about " him, but he was gone when I got here so I never had firsthand experience of his Ohster. Lucky me, I guess.

I also noticed his profile is "restricted" like wtf is that? Is that like mod review?

Or is he restricted to his own little world on here where he can't see anyone's posts, and no one can see his posts

      About to head up to Roseville to return this rental and pick up my truck from the auto shop.  It is supposedly sporting a newly fabricated frame rail...I don't think they are referred to as "chassis" anymore as I see the confusion in shop owner's eyes when they ask me if I'm looking for "body work?".   But I do find it interesting that I told the owner that I worked direct with OEM parts and yet he still wrote me up an invoice with overpriced OEM parts from companies I used to host at the place I used to work for.  With that said, I'm expecting a stellar job for the amount I paid.   ...else, there will be some talk negotiations.

      This 👆 definitely goes with what I said in my other post - getting old sucks. Seems like *everything* takes longer and takes more energy out of me than it used to. Really need to work on my diet and exercise, I've found the older I get, the more important those things have really become...
