S&M Barbie lashed by public by The Sun

BARBIE’S new S&M look has whipped up a storm – with protesters dubbing it “filth”.

The doll’s image is transformed with kinky fishnets, motorcycle jacket, black gloves and boots.

Makers Mattel say Black Canary Barbie, out in September, is based on a DC comic superhero of the same name.

But religious group Christian Voice said: “Barbie has always been on the tarty side and this is taking it too far.

A children’s doll in sexually suggestive clothing is irresponsible – it’s filth.”

I don't know about you guys but for the first time in like 13 years I want a barbie for christmas lol

It's an article from a british paper so I guess they do. I know it's the BC outfit but personally it's the coolest barbie I've ever seen.

Barbie is now a Dom too? Cause you know...in MY day everyone knew she was a ho. YUP. She didn't have the vet office, teather gig...NO JOB but had boyfriends and fancy cars and a townhouse. You figure it out.

Mattel got embarressed and tried making the blonde bimbo 'respectable?'

Ha! She is a tramp!

Brats dolls are 10x trampier THATS WHY I LOVE THEM! And they stand on their own and you don't lose their shoes at Kens house.

this takes me back to that barbie w/ the butterfly tattoo on her leg, that they had recalled! (my cousin kept hers)

it came w/ fake tattoos.. its funny how something so innocent could cause an uproar. i never knew any 9 year olds who wanted tattoos, because of this barbie.. they wanted them, becasue mommy and daddy have them... people annoy me...

That's not any worse than those short, strapless, streetwalker dresses Barbie used to wear in the eighties.

I think it's kinda cool.

A motorcycle jacket is sexually suggestive? What ever gave anyone that idea?

She doesnt look so S&M.

She should be wearing a zipper mask or something.

I wanted purple hair cuz my barbie had it.

No joke.

I eventually had purple hair.

Barbie's was WAY easier to maintain.

Also, I am now in love with the word 'tarty'

Much like the word 'glib' - it's a good word that we forgot about. I'm bringing it back.

Not sure the uber-young children that would be "endangered" by this would even know what "sexually suggestive clothing" is. If we are talking about older kids, say 10+ (who probably might know what "sexually suggestive" means) PFFT go read a comic book sometime. If there isn't T&A on every third page (and violence on every other page) sales drop in proportion.

Although the argument that its "not sexually suggestive because its a super hero" isn't particularly relevant, superheros are especially "sexually suggestive" in many of their outfits, if not most. I'll agree with that argument from a tactical perspective, as I'm hard pressed to disagree with an argument that mitigates the mass sexual hangups American culture seems to have along with the endless "protecting" of everyone from everything. Anyhow the level of accepted violence in "children's products" is so high these days, "suggestive" T&A should be such a non issue by comparison. I'd rather them obsessing over tits than tomahawks.
