know_buddy_kares Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 eh.. someone had to take metallica's throne as some bitching princess of illeagle downloads.. though if he wasn't being so sarcastic, he'd have a damn good point about everyone else.. but then again lets look at the flip side of things, compared to our wages, is all this bullshit worth paying the price they demand for it? shit i don't think so.. *happily sits on his pile of 20,000 or more illegally downloaded songs* -and i do it guilt fuckin free.
jynxxxedangel Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 If it wasn't for bootlegs, these bleeding c**ts wouldn't be so RICH right now. This is a FACT. I'm assuming Bob or Lars as teenagers never sat next to their boom-boxes with a blank tape loaded-- to catch that "awesome song" as soon as the DJ spun it again. *straightface* I thought every person who was young during the 70's and 80's did this. I guess they are completely innocent. I remember watching Kid Rock walk up onto the stage at Harpo's many moons ago, with nothing but a mix tape as his accompaniment, during the intermission of a Pantera/Exodus/Slayer show. He was booed and catcalled the ENTIRE time, because his act was cheezy and he was a bit too ghetto for the crowd. People were actually throwing PITCHERS at him to get off the stage. How soon we forget to count our blessings.. Back in days of yore, a bard was happy only to be given food, lodging, and recognition from town to town as he or she traveled. They were happy only to spread their music to the people. Now, all musicians care about is MONEY, because they are pimped out by the record companies. Bitch better have my money.. If you can't bear for your precious music to become a living part of the people, then DON'T share it. Once you give them a song, it belongs to them, in a way. Deal with it.
Guest GodfallenPromos Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 LMFAO...I honestly heard him tell you it's ok to illegally download music..because he doesn't care....and while your at it...steal everything else lol...Kid Rock just advocated Theft!!!!

Slept with ghost Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Kid rock wont ever have to worry about me stealing his music.
know_buddy_kares Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Kid rock wont ever have to worry about me stealing his music. agreed
Head Wreck Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 anyone remember audio galaxies? i fricken loved that site, every day i logged in and there was a rather accurate recommendation on some minor or unsigned band i ordinarily would not have heard about. the Lars Ulric had a hissy fit. i haven't had as much exposure to new music as i did back then. it just made it easier for the little guy to get heard. now all i hear now is kerrang(smash hits in disguise) magazine/radio/TV toting the latest out of roadrunners brothel and the like.
MissKitty Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Kid rock wont ever have to worry about me stealing his music. Ditto. But, I did laugh my ass off while his bird lookalike self ranted.
ManicQueen Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I always enjoy watching this.. too funny. Though I DO have tons of his music that I've downloaded.
Az_ Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 target="_blank Its time for people like him and RIAA to wake up and smell the future. There is a new way of distributing music and they have got to learn how to use it to their advantage rather than trying to bash it out of existence. A recent release by Radiohead actually showed that working with the system is more profitable than working against it. Here is an article detailing the facts: Radiohead's Succes Excerpt ---------------- Almost 400,000 illegal torrent downloads were made on the first day and 2.3m in the 25 days following the album’s release, compared with a full-week’s peak of just 158,000 for the next most popular album of the period. “The expectation among rights-holders is that, in order to create a success story, you must reduce the rate of piracy – we’ve found that is not the case,” said Mr Garland, chief executive of Big Champagne, who highlighted the benefits that Radiohead received from the album’s popularity, including strong ticket sales for its concerts this year. ----------------
Hellion Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 One of my friends that worked at Harpo's threw the Kid out of the place like a bag of garbage because he was talking shit awhile back,LOL!
freydis Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 People like Metallica are why I like giving my money to independant artists more.
Az_ Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Its the current shift in the nature of the music industry that demonstrates why capitalism works for some systems and sucks for others. Artists need to be rewarded. But capitalism builds towards predictive systems. And art does not fit that particular mold. So instead of working with the medium capitalistic systems try to force the art to fit their business plan. Thus they drive music towards a mass market system with the lowest common denominator ruling the roost. Thus innovation is discouraged and mass produced pulp becomes the product of the day. Because of the net and the mobility of the medium of music (and other forms of art) capitalistic systems are losing their hold on the distribution method of the medium. And with this goes a large part of their profit margin. There are going to be and continue to be major deaths of various corporations due to this loss of revenue. Until they learn to live with and abide with the system or overcome it and demolish it. Art should be considered a vital natural resource of the public. As such We The People should fund artists and art should flow from them into society. As we have gained control of distribution we no longer need major corporate companies to provide the distribution. There is still plenty of money to be made through marketing side products. But artists still need to be rewarded for their efforts. And We The People owe them that. But that reward has to be free of pressure to conform to predictive marketing values. Instead it must conform to the vagaries that are the art form itself.
jynxxxedangel Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I would be much more happy to pay an "art tax" than any of the other taxes I pay!
Simon Bar Sinister Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Marilyn Manson made perhaps the best comment on this topic that I've come across. His point was that anyone d/l-ing his music after its official release was, in effect, working for him as unpaid promotional staff. It was pre-release d/ls that he had a bit of a problem with. Not enough to sue people over, but it did bother him. to the 2 people above me: U2's manager is a big proponent of an ISP charge.
Hellion Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 People like Metallica are why I like giving my money to independant artists more. same here, if Cliff Burton was still alive Metallica would have not sold out,and become greedy.sigh
