I realized something today.... whereas before I was into d&d and my plethora of ps2 games, I want to expand and further leave this physical world we call 'Earth'.

I'm asking for advice on games I can get into. Preferably cheap.... and definately NOT Warhammer, I saw a topic mentioning it. Because of my fierce hatred of one warhammer fan in particular I refuse to have anything to do with it. Not to mention it's a rather costly hobby. Also magic. I don't like cards.

Well? Suggestions? RPGs like D&D, or good ps2 games that I may have yet to discover.... so often there are run-of-the-mill the games that are actually really decent. 'A Bard's Tale', which only cost me 3 bucks, is really rather good, even though only ps2 enthusiasts have heard of it. Anyways... suggestions! Please try to stick to ps2 for my information... I aint made of goddamned money and don't care to buy any other systems. I'll stick with the one with the greatest variety.

I find myself more and more just wanting to lock myself in my bedroom and alternate between my tv and my comp. It oddly makes me more sane when I spend as little time with other humans as possible. The few times I encounter you strange creatures nowadays I'm much less emotional, and more laidback. I'm not as aggressive. My gaming time has gone from a couple hours a day to... every available moment I have.

There are a number of PS2 games built on the Baldur's Gate engine (the ps2 version of course). Unfortunately I am blanking on the name... Champions of A.... .something .... curse my memory. I will check my collection after the Olympics thingy is over.

As to other options there are a number of tabletop things popping around here right now. Not sure if there is space open on the DnD group (I think I snarfed the last spot). But Rev.Reverence is looking high and low for Battletech players for a big mech throw down (he snagged me as well). So there be stuff to do. Just have to reach out and find it.

Oh... as I am thinking about it... a game that may have an appeal to any of the Goth set has to be the Persona series. Great RPG for the PS1 and PS2. Definitely worth the check out and probably can be gotten for a song.

Oh... and just to toss it out there. Probably the best PS2 game ever made (opinions may vary) is Disgaea. Its a tactical turn based game. But it excels in nearly every way possible. Engrossing story (and silly). Depth of game play. Replay value. And on and on.

I dont get into all that online game stuff but however im a big-time gamer when it comes to game systems (although I havnt played the newer ones such as ps3's because there too damn expensive). I use to have a ps2 at one point however it got stolen (long story) but when I use to have it I had alot of games for it. If your big into RPG games then im sure you'd like wild arms 3. Its a western-based roleplay but the story lines are interesting and the game play is fun. Most RPG games I had were ps1 games, another thats addicting is "chrono trigger" (which is part of the final fantasy chronicles for ps1) even though its originally a super nes game but its been re-done for ps1 (which has extra features such as anime cut-scenes and other stuff you can unlock for every different ending you complete).

I can go on alot more of the interesting games but my attention span has grown short. I can post a little bit more later.

I don't have a PS2 but with a decent computer, if you buy Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights 2, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, and Diablo 2, you'll never leave your computer.

"A Bard's Tale"?

They ported that to PS2? I played it on my IBM XT and on my friends C64.

I would have to say that, tabletop wise.....nothing really takes Heroscape out to pasture....it's a hell of a game, great choices for squads, very nice 3-d hexigonal enviroment

as for ps2 games...are you looking into the RPG? style....or just anything??...if your looking for just anything....take a look at Okami, Bujingai was always a neat one for me, Dynasty Warriors is always a good choice...but if your looking for more along the lines of the "Rpg" style...my favs have been Demonstone and Champions of Norrath, both 1 and 2.

Champions of Norrath!!! That was it!

Oh and music tie in. Bujingai was made with Jrocker Gackt doing all the motion capture and voice work of the main character in the game.

I could never get into online gaming and video games. I truly suck at them, the most I get into anymore is flight simulation (x-plane)

Now tabletop (i.e. books) roleplaying games I love to get into. I have been into the ubergeekdom of things like 1st ed D&D, shadowrun, earthdawn, cyberpunk, torg, Cthulhu, WHFRP, and the such for decades. I have made the great pilgrimage to GenCon twice, both on passes that got me into places that you wouldn't be able to normally, (like the dealer's room on the day before and day after the con was over.) As soon as i get material out of NY, I would be looking avidly for some players.

I at last beat god of war... now working on god of war II... and some game I've heard vague mention of before, 'Legacy of Kain: Alliance". Nothing big, but its truly not bad either. Vampiric in nature, and that I like.

Also Sims Castaway II. Laugh all you want.... it's fuckin wicked. So Emily Darke says, and so it shall be. Sims is badass.

What's next? Obscure: the Aftermath. Very silent-hill like.

lol basically this thread is to call out those who spend vast majorities of their time connected to a different world, be it through a gaming system, the computer, or tabletop. Personally I have to stick to my ps2 because my computer is a pathetic thing and I've no cash to update it. And tabletop.... to be frank most people I know into that sort of thing tend to fall in love with me. Evidently girl gamers are rare.

Anyways. Share your stories. What's everyone working on right now?

Just joined a tabletop DnD game (through DGN) after a decades long hiatus. Have a couple of different games going on that I cycle between. Disgaea on the PSP. Dynasty Warrior 5 (with liljrockbunny) on the PS2. Just finished BioShock on the PC recently. Looking for something else to play on it right now (need something as the Olympics are dominating the TV). Pulled out Resistance Fall o Man on the PS3 to play through again... but not sure I will stick with it.... kinda lost at the moment as to what to play really...

Open to suggestions.

The kain games would be golden if not for having the worse camera angles ever. I say grab clock tower 3 and any fatal frame.

Ah yes, the ol DnD personal roleplay games. I always had too much fun with my perverted Cleric Ranger character, but at least there were a lot of laughs with it. These days, I have been mostly playing Quake 2 online as there are still many players on it. Other ones I have loved that were good were the Diablo games. I am waiting for Diablo 3 to come out now as it looks pretty good from the example videos I saw.

eh...she hates anime, remember?

don't take that statement the wrong way, IMO that game was great, along with the other games nipponichi released....

NeWayZ, if you're lookin for a good ps2 game check these out:

Rule of Rose -survival horror

Haunting Ground -survival horror

Fatal Frame -ditto, and there's 3 of them to choose from

Champions return to arms -action rpg

Odinsphere -action rpg

Xenosaga -turn based rpg, its a trilogy btw

GrimGrimoire -real time strategy

I'm asuming you've played the silent hill games by now, and also resident evil 4, so I didn't bother listing those.

lol.... actually, I'm not much into silent hill. I'll admit it's an amazing game but it doesn't quite spark my interest.

Me and my video games are like relationships. All the ones I wasted money on, were able to capture my heart. The others I merely rented were one night stands, and after I thoroughly fucked and conquered them I'd just throw them back in the bin.

And I really don't like shooters. More of a sword kind of gal.

Well, you always could play the Elder Scrolls then.

Odinsphere -action rpg

AH Ha! So that is where Odims got his name from!

I'm not a gamer at all, but even I found Xenogears for the playstation engrossing.

I think the reason why I liked it is because there is not much "game" involved even though it took me over 60 hours to complete; it is very story-driven.

I haven't thought about it in forever, but even typing that name conjures up old high school memories of a cold basement.

I feel that way about Chrono Trigger. It remains, hands down, my favorite video game of all time. Ahhh, memories.

Well, you always could play the Elder Scrolls then.

I'll second a vote for any of the Elder Scrolls games, though particularly Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III) and Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV). Admittedly, it takes some doing, getting started with them, but once you're hooked, you're hooked, and unless you have no job, the games will keep you occupied for a good two to three months apiece. As a bonus, you can acquire Morrowind, I believe, for the PS2, and Oblivion definitely for the PS3.

I'm having a lovely time fucking around with the Wall-E game. That is all.
