I knew she had decided to get away from the vampires after her husband died. It sounds interesting. I just wonder if her seductive and rich writing style will lend itself to this type of topic without offending alot of people... or ending up being one of "the bad Anne Rice books". Maybe she will intend to offend while also being thought provoking as in Memnoch The Devil. Of course, I'll buy it in hardcover on it's release date no matter what. Cool. Thanks for the link!

Yea thats a different new way of writing for her. I'll have to give it a read. Sounds very enticing though.

Anne Rice is one of my favorite....well okay is my favorite writer. I own every book that she has written including the ones that her son wrote. I'm excited about this even though I'm apprehensive. I'm sure that she will do wonders with it. I hadn't heard about it before now so thanks for posting about it. I'll be looking forward to it now.

Well she's already written about god and the devil and everything else. Why not. =) Although , based only on that article im not sure she's said "im going to write about Jesus , and tell his story as accurately as my research can lead me to" even though its implied.

Her implication that it will be a >catholic

She has become recently, a devout catholic. (Right around the same time i've had two family members have people die and they too becaume "christians" oddly enough) She has adamantly endorsed a book about the saving power of the Christian god and near-death experiences. Im not sure what effect this will have on her writings.

Previously i was under the impression she was more of an agnostic/neo-spiritualist type with interest i the christian version of the "mystical" and "Mystics" (terms she uses).

i have to be honest... i have NEVER finished a book that she has written... i have started reading books by her... but then.... i become busy with work and other things.. time passes and i give the book away because it has become only a dust collector to me..

i think i will read this one to finish.

Her implication that it will be a >catholic< interpretation is a bit suggestive.  ( most other Christian sects don't agree with the  mystical transfiguration of the sacraments that she refers to in that article)

If you are gonna be christian you might as well be catholic in my opinion, it was the first christian church afterall and though scripture and catholic doctrine are at odds on things (such as the sacraments as you mention) it seems to me that if Jesus was the son of God then he really did start the catholic church and Peter really was the first Pope.

I think evangilicals are off base in their contesting of catholic doctrine. I'm glad that Ann Rice is following in Mel Gibsons footsteps and taking the catholic version.

Anne Rice seems to be very enamored with the richness and history of the Catholic faith. She referrs to it in both respectful and dispariging ways in almost all of her books. I was raised Catholic and I love that she does this.Even if I cannot subscribe to alot of the teachings, I love the deep history, and the beauty of the ritual, buildings, art, and music that it created through the years.

Hate to say it but I still think Mel Gibson has a fascination with martyrs and was just going on an ego trip. Sorry, personally opinion.

No problem, I just think that if Jesus is the son of God (and I am not saying he is) then the fundamentalist Christians are a bit off in their critique of catholicism, they try to find various passages in scripture to discredit catholic doctrine and texts like 'faith of our fathers' and chatechisms but they usually take it out of context.

Anyway I will buy Ann Rice's book to see where she goes with the story. The new testament certainly skips over a large part of Jesus's life.
