Into Anthropormorphics/Furry Art

Wondering if there is anyone here that is in the anthropormorphic art culture?

Posted

Ehhh, I like it, but not to the point of buying it. My brother is certainly into it though.

I was not aware this was a distinct subculture. Im aware of , for instance, Disney collectors and people that collect animation artwork. One of my friends used to collect various types of WB and Disney animation cells and fine-art prints.

Didn't realize that it was segmented into a specifically "anthropormorphic art culture".

Do you have any links and such to more info on this?

Does your bro go to CC or on DGN?

wow... just did a search, didn't realize there was a dedicated subculture for that genre... some really groovy stuff out there

Troy, this was the first site I found... lots ov different artists...

OOH!! OOH!!

I get to say something about this!! ;D

I role play on forums..... among my favourites is http://www.masterzdm.com and most of the characters played on that forum ARE Anthros. I admit t playing a few characters who're anthropomorphic, my favourite being Mya, my catgirl.

That forum isnt bad. It's actually meant to be PG-13 or less. The only thing I really hate about the Anthropormorphic art genre is the Yiffing....... drawing sexual acts with Anthros involved. >_O!!

His name on the old DGN was "Bill Maddox" and he was very active on DGN for several years, he was sort of one of the original 'DGNers" (even before it was called DGN) . But his wife basicly has him held hostage , with no net access and he isnt allowed to go to CC anymore... gah...

Yes, the furry culture is much larger than most people realize. Not only that, but there are even many sub-cultures of it that some people are only dedicated to exclusively. Oddly, while I was in Sociology, the instructer stated that the anthro culture is the 4th largest non-religion-based community. :blink

kichijoten, DeviantArt Pop Furries and Goth Furry

FarrIL, good half of the community would agree with you.

That's the aspect of furry art that kept me from responding that my husband and I like your basic, clean furry art.

That freaking yif stuff actually nauseates me.

I don't know if they are still active, but there's a group called burnedfur that is kinda the anti-yif. Used to have some interesting debates going between people from burnedfur and pervs with names like squeakypony (think: the equine equivalent of a blow-up sex doll :doh )

EEEEEEEEWWWW!!! "SqueekyPony"?! Wtf?! That's just sick.......

Meh, the first account of furry RP that I ever had was actually playing a lion cub, whose name I have forgotten, on a Lion King-based MUCK. A friend of mine got me into it and after she left my school, we lost contact. i think that's why I dont go on that MUCK anymore. ;_;

Then I started RPing in chatrooms and I hated it. Either you were better than everybody else or you were a n00b. More often than not, I was always called a n00b, despite the fact I knew the basics of RP.

Then my friend Heather gets me onto MasterZDM..... I signed up. Got hooked pretty damn quick. ;3

But yiffing?! EEEWW!!

Not safe for work?

Er... they're wrestling, right? Right?! That's what I told my co-workers...

haha, uh-oh - the 'yiffy' art is what I prefer :innocent I make no apologies for my perversion! hehe

Hmm, wish I knew the fur IRC channels my brother hangs out in, but I don't. And no, he's not on DGN or living in Michigan. What's his handle...something like Kamikuso? I don't know. I almost went with him to FurCon a few years ago.

I consided myself part of the burned-fur group with minor exceptions of yiffy art now and then.

Images like these shouldnt be frowned apon:

Tastefull Yiff, not work suitable

Burned-Fur is basically anti-furSuiting, anti-plush, anti-beastery, and anti-porn related to the anthropormorphics.

I'm a HUGE fan of anthro art, but not furry art. When I say anthro art I'm talking about artists like Kyoht, Goldenwolf, Natasha, etc. Basically, non-cartoony anthropormorphic art. I think the furry stuff is cute (non-yiff) but I'm not a fan.

Yeah. And the reason they are so (for the uninformed and curious) is because of the very stigma attached to Furry Art that kept me from initially admitting my husband and I like it. That if you admit you like it, many, many people AUTOMATICALLY assume you're involved in humping your Tickle-Me-Elmo doll or taking it up the ass in a Felix the Cat suit at a convention at a run-down Holiday Inn.

Hey - I'm nobody to judge what turns someone on. But it pisses me off that connections are made that don't have any basis in fact. Kinda like if you're goth you MUST enjoy S&M or bondage - WHATTHEFUCKEVER.

Oh, and one reason I feel so anti-yif is because can't ANYTHING retain innocence these days? Can't anything remain "clean" for those of us who don't need sexual, violent or other strong imagery in our lives on a regular basis?

I mean, Janet Jackson has a tattoo of Minnie Mouse giving Mickey Mouse a blowjob on her pelvic area. And her explaination, (paraphrasing) "They're so sweet and innocent, but you know there's some nasty going on there somewhere." WHATTHEFUCK?!?!?!

I don't have a problem with sexuality - I have my own turn-ons. I don't have a problem with some violence - I like some pretty strong modern art and Arnold movies. But I DO have a problem with people having a problem letting innocence survive in this day and age. I'm tired of people being able to get away with saying, "if you're against such images, you're a repressed prude". No - I'm not. I'd just like there to be SOMETHING untouched & "safe" left in the world to connect with when I've had my fill of the intense, deep & shocking.

By the way, I nominate this thread for "Thead of the Year". Keep it coming!

I believe the main reason on the huge anthro growth is because there is alot more visual emotional expressions animals can take on that humans cant. Example: lowered ears for depression, upright-tall for alert/surprised, ect. Not to mention the fur, ears, and tail that allmost grants the wielder the definition of cute. I mean, when have you ever looked at an average cat and thought it was hideous?
