I think as long as you find a character that fits your body type and personality or that you can adapt it in a well made fashion to do so then I think cosplay is cool. I would love to go to see the merchandise and people. I think I would want to try my best to not look stupid...and if I could pull it off try and be cute or sexy lol

Love all the pics EAF. Love the armor suit. The pic title says transformer but it's actually a Gundam Mobilesuit. It's an armor I would love to build. If I can find the pics, I'll post the costume a friend vacuformed of a suit from HALO. He and another guy wore them at a Dragoncon a few years ago.
